112 Status: E90 M3...Why such a late potential production date?

My 2009 E90 M3 is in 112 status. I called BMW of NA customer service to inquire on an actual production date because it currently does not have a defined date. I was told that it was potentially slated to start production the 3rd week of January 2010. Does anyone know why it would take so long to go from 112 to production? Seems quite a long time.

There is nothing special about this order (i.e. no custom paint, etc). SG w/ Fox interior, Tech/Winter/Premium package, enhanced audio, ipod and smart phone integration.

No delay. The plant is closed until January 10th due to the holidays.

This is their break time every year.

Yes. not sure how much of August they takes off. Would assume it is 2 weeks and 2 weeks at Christmas. I work at a manufacturing plant here in the US and we have 2 weeks off in late July and 2 weeks off at Christmas (time for big retooling projects to get done).

The 4 weeks at Christmas for BMW is unusally high due to the faltering economy- it usually isn't that long.

I'm assuming 2010 was a typo, but, yeah my SA told me plant is closed till mid january. She told me to be prepared for a possible change in production week because things might change at the company after the holiday break.
I'm looking at wk10

I don't know. I didn't ask for any tracking info from my SA(I'm using First Choice Military Sales) just yet. I just figured I would wait untill the factory opens back up and I can get a soild production week. I'm already driving myself crazy enough over here
