If you dont have a special order in with your local BMW dealer yet, you may to wait until next year. Each dealer are only allotted with so many M cars per year based on the number of M cars they sell.

Good Luck and Happy New Year!

There have been a lot of posts on this topic. Try using google to search the forum rather than the in built serach function - it is far superior. Just type your search terms and or booleans then end with "site:m3post.com".

That being said I would not be as possimistic as you seem to be. US cars will be here sometime between Jan-Mar 08 dependingon if you count dealer demos or not. There will be a high initial demand based on both supply and possibly a small "maintenance of exclusivity" effort by BMW. If you want to get one of the first couple dozen or do cars in your area you needed to get on a list long ago or you need to be willing to pay over sticker. Once the initial hype dies down and very likely within 2008, you will be able to walk in to (the right) dealer and buy a car off the lot or place and order for the exact car you want and have production begin on it more or less immediately for delivery in a couple months.

There will be dealers with surpluss M3's but probably not until next fall. The early allotments will be spoken for. The summer months will most likely come with some big dealer markups, at least at first. I imagine that in the fall markups will drop and and maybe a few M3's will be available.

I agree completely, the hype will die down in 6 months and then they will be available, you might have to go pick one up in other parts of the states, but you will find them available. The fall out rate on waiting lists is very high, so don’t feel discouraged. I have even thought about waiting until they are available back from leases because they cost much less and many of the good engine modifications take a few years to come out.
