Looks great. Too bad we can't get the '09 iDrive too!

Ha Ha, this mod virus constantly changes so you can never get rid of it.

As long as the iDrive version is the one with the programmable buttons the LCI controller will work with the non-LCI iDrive.

Correct. This is referred to as CCC update 1. If you have the 6 programmable "soft buttons" located on your center console you can use the new idrive (CIC) controller.

The only thing that my dealership and I have the slightest hesitation about is using a 2009 M3 CIC controller on my 2008 CCC. They want to order the 9/08-12/08 5-series controller since that uses the older idrive hardware/software with the new controller unit.

Any thoughts on simply ordering the CCC M3 controller for use on a CIC M3?

I don't understand the hesitation as it has been proven for the last 5 months http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4339529&postcount=1 and in this very thread that the CIC controller works with the CCC...

As using a CCC controller in a CIC M3... why?
