Which "tune" are you talking about? Removing the cold start or some kind of ECU tuning?

I think he is just referring to getting rid of the cold start.

To add another data point/opinion for people - If you remove the cold start it will dramatically quiet the exhaust at warmup. I would definitely do this if I lived in an apartment or close to another home. I get an intermittent rattle in the trunk area only during cold start. It doesn't really bother me, but some might be annoyed. of course, I have the fabspeed front section, so it is not apples to apples.

I personally have always loved the sound of the cold start - stock, and now with my exhaust. But it is quite loud - even with the stock exhaust.

Anyone else bothered by the smell? It's mainly at start-up, but I'll still smell it a little at a light with the windows open sometimes. Makes me a little paranoid if a cop is behind me.

I wouldn't say I'm paranoid, but it is on my mind. It is noticeable.

Just coast at 3k RPMs and you will be good. If you blast away from him, you may have a problem...hahahaha.

I used to have Akra. Evo but find the noise annoying; not because of it is loudness, but without the cats the noise was too bassy under 3000 rpm, and there was a loud intake resonance between 3000-4000 rpm hence I sold the mid-pipes and left with slip-on. Now slip-on is really quiet but at least it is 30 lbs lighter than OEM mufflers.

So it was the GT4 and not the Evo then.

I love my Akra EVO also. The sound is about perfect. I stripped out the interior last week so I can clean the tint residue from the rear window easier and after driving around a few days I was ready to put the interior back in to absorb the extra noise. This exhaust is right at my threshold for street driving. I also rolled around in the slip-on configuration for a few months because of state inspection and while it sounded great, the mid pipes make it sound that much better. The 50lbs reduction is great too!

Love my akra evo, sound is amazing and hp gain very noticeable, a bit of smell when starting on, I switched from a BMW Performance exhaust and I am very pleased with it, no regrets

Odd. Evo has cats.
I meant the removed primary cats. I know that secondary cats are in place on Evo.

Sorry for getting a little off topic here but anyone know how long these exhaust would last? I'm thinking about getting akra slip on from one of the members on here and his akra slip on has around 8k miles. Also, an idea how much louder it gets if I pair the slip on with challenge race x pipe compare to the evo system? Thanks.

It'll last forever if you treat it right. It is very well put together, I often find myself just staring at it when I'm working under the car. The welds are eye candy and the system is a work of art. No lie.

Of course it will be louder if you delete all the cats.
