IMO video games help a bit to get to know an unknown track. So you know which kind of corners to expect at a given point of the track.
I found it useful to get to know the Nürburgring a bit, where you have blind corners, corners after bumps (even jumps if you're fast enough ). Helps to avoid bad surprises.

Also, when the car oversteers in the game the stupid steering wheels are so slow to react that it's hard to save the car by then. But I sure will look into it |
