that area is planned for a ping pong table, poker table w/ 62" DLP, and bar in the very far end. I'm tiling in from the outside door to the full bath on the end of the basement since I have a hottub outside. Rest of the basement will be carpet. Might brick on the interior walls behind the bar for a nice look.......in due time. this crap takes forever if your doing it yourself!

Did you run the wires through the vent? Or through the ceiling?

What's the hole below the screen for? The sub? Middle channel speaker?

Very nice setup. The Panny is a good choice. You didn't say what kind of DVD player you're using.
I would guess this isn't your first projector. If so, do you really notice the difference in 1080p v 720p at normal viewing distance? I'm not talking about regular DVD's, which are scaled up from 520p but HD TV which is true 720p in most cases.

Roughly how much has this cost you at the end of the day. Because you stated how it takes awhile doing it yourself. I would assume you have saved a huge amount of money doing it on your own.

actually this is my first projector. I'm 26 so I've never had a room before that would be suitable for a projector. I'm NOT fan of projector setups when you have a lot of ambient light. This room has 0 ambient light at night time........very minimal during day. Hell at night if I turn everything off I cant see my hand in front of my face even after waiting 5 minutes. I tried, kinda freaky.

As far as total cost..........I didnt add it up, I dont want to know. I already had most of speakers, so if I just calculate labor and materials for the actual room build it was around $6,000. This was a completely bare room........concrete on 3 sides.

All the wires are run behind the wall or up in the ceiling. It is prewired for 7.1/6.1/or 5.1 w/ subwoofer outs in both front corners. Also ran the projector wiring in the ceiling obviously.

I'm running a Toshiba HDDVD...forgot the model number. Picture is great, but I dont have any previous projector experience to rate it against. W the panny projector and this dvd player i'm very impressed everytime even with standard DVD being upconverted.

That is for the center channel or shelving. I currently have the center channel positioned there for a cleaner look. It has power and center channel wire coming out of it. It was a recess in the concrete foundation created by the fireplace above in the family room. So I figured what the hell, make a little cabinet area out of drywall, cant hurt.

I have a pair of Martin logan front speakers with a parasound HCA 3500 amp for my stereo system. I have added a 6 channel Parasound amp and some PSB surround speakers with a Samsung 46" LCD tv in my living room. But someday I would like to do what you have done.

How is the picture quality from your cable/sattelite on that large of a screen?

Sounds like you have some great audio equipment!! I'd love to have your amps in my setup.

The picture quality is great for such a large screen on the satellite, but only in HD. My first viewing experience was of the Masters this spring, on concrete floors w/ foldout chairs I might add.....but very cool nonetheless!!

Regular transmissions are understandably grainy. HD is good though, DVD's of all types are good and HDDVD is very good.

I dont use the room for watching regular tv that often, HDtv whenver possible and always for movies. I have a 50" plasma in my upstairs family room for regular viewing w/a mid-low grade 5.1 setup to add some sound.
