That is one of the most entertaining threads I have read. Never heard so much attention given to missing minor parts. I am about to run out to my car in my boxers just to see if I have a flashlight. Gonna have to grab a flashlight just to find out.
03/08 build, no flashlight. I didnt unpack my owners manual, maybe whoever did has my light.

cool hidden tricks on e9x
well, i cant think of anything but the Launch control option on the car at the moment....
but im starting this thread to see if anyone discovered or knows of any cool tricks that are designed behind this e9x bmw M3, that arent as obvious as the "light on" or the simple turn on button. Launch control:On DCT: Turn off traction, Raise Gear Ratio to 6, at complete stop hold the knob down on ' - ' (minus) and ull see a flag light up. Rev, and let go when ur ready! Anyone else, I'm trying to get to learn every possible trick on this car, and if everyone shares one thing, we'll know it all! |

You do know that you're not changing any gear ratios by selecting S6 don't you.
DISCLAIMER: No gear ratios were harmed in the making of this thread.

I made them give me the flashlight as it's discontinued and he was playing with one while I was talking to him before I bought. I also made him give me the little plastic sit on BMW for my 1 year old niece . That should come std with the car, not the torch. Believe me you're only missing out on about $3 wholesale for the torch. The car on the other hand is excellent. Black metallic, red pretend leather seats and the 19s from the M3 and a horn like a clowns nose. $270 retail. I guess they give them away as they won't sell many at that price. She loves it. |

I like how there's a vent in the center arm rest compartment. I stick an air freshener in that cup holder and everytime I get in the car I get a fresh blast of the scent when I turn it on.

+1. I had the torch in my 5er, but did not check the glove box this time to see if I have it in my M.

When i got rid of the 08 and got the 09, i went to the parts department and ordered a new iPod pouch, along with the flashlight for the glovebox.
The center console was redesigned (inside) because supposedly the drink cooling was bringing too much moisture into the compartment if it was left on with no drink inside. This could cause an ipod failure or damage other items that may be stored in there. |

Off topic:
When I first read this thread I was really excited about finding out "new things I did not realise the M3 does/has". There are a few interested items posted initially, but then the topic got derailed towards something to the extent "who's M3 came with an ipod pouch and/or a flashlight, or a fleshlight etc", as well as with an amusing and highly entertaining story about BMW's hidden secret... I wish this thread - at least as from now onwards - would point out to the real substance of this topic which I find extremely interesting and useful. Mods, maybe the ipod pouch / flashlight discussion can be taken / split in a new thread? Back on topic Here is my contribution to the essence of this thread: The storage spaces on the doors of the coupe can be expanded / pulled open in order to gain better access. I know it sounds silly but since I only found this out something like 6M after ownership of my M3, I though of sharing this with any of you who haven't noticed! It's also not mentioned in the manual! |

I found something that I dont think many have yet..
when your in "ENTERTAINMENT" and lets say you want to go the "NAVIGATION" screen. I used to hit the Menu button and then push the iDrive knob to the right, towards "NAVIGATION". Next time, when you are in "ENTERTAINMENT". Just push and hold the knob to the right and it will automatically go the "NAVIGATION" screen, without having to go the Main Menu.

Maybe old news but here is another one:
With the key in the FOB if you press the engine start button without pressing the brake pedal, this will power up the car without switching the engine on. Handy if you want to go in and listen to the radio whilst waiting for someone before you go, or in general if you want electricity arround without the engine on. The car will then go auto off after 30mins. |
