Thumbs up Chris Harris/Drivers Republic: E90 M3 Bloody Brilliant

Found some youtube gold where CH, Jethro and another white man thrash V8 sedans around Wales.

Result: E90 M3 better looking and brilliant compared to the coupe and/or C63 AMG and IS-F. No surprises there but then there's nothing wrong with repetition.

The best vid quality I could find. Cheers

Pretty old video, but a good one. The last "white man" you're referring to is Dickie Meaden, who, along with Jethro, is a writer for Evo.

E90 > E92 is pretty unanimous amongst people I know.

E92 just not looking "right" is what the discussion comes down to.

Well for one Chris Harris used to own an e92 m3 back in '08 so if he feels that the e90 is better looking he's not blowing smoke. Looks are all subjective so it's not absurd to think that.

Every comparo between the E90 vs E92 from credible sources that I've seen (including Turner Motorsport) choose the E90 as the preferred variant due to balance and/or feel. Looks wise, I'm not a big fan of the E90 taillights (even post LCI), but otherwise the car even looks more balanced, compact, and "tight"...and "dat &ss!" lol

Problem with an e90 is that it looks just like every other e90. Very hard to discern the M's from the 3XX. Not so with an e92. Of course it all boils down to preference.

Both beautiful cars. E90 does not look just like every other 3 series. Lol. Stop!

I love them both. Frankly, I think the E90 is better looking than the E92, when comparing 335s to 335s. For M3s, I could go either way. The E90's window trim always looks a bit chunky to me, but everything else is pure sex. The E92 M3 is iconic, though.

Primary reason I went with the E92 is because it was damn hard to find a late 2011 E90 M3 spec'd the way I wanted (no sunroof, ZCP, etc.). I love both.

Actually, to 95% of the population they both look like any other bimmer on the road. Only the small percentage of the population who is into performance can really distinguish them at a glance.

Oh look honey, it has 4 tailpipes instead of 2 . And the wheel arches stick out more!

And IMO that's precisely the appeal of these cars, they are only recognizable to people in the know, and fly under everybody else's radar. If you want flashier, buy a Porsche (even my 2000 Boxster draws more looks from the average person).

As for coupe vs. sedans, I could have gone with either (and absolutely adore the carbon roof on the coupe). But after having owned a 335i Coupe, I found the huge doors simply too unwieldy for the crowded conditions where I park, and access in the back problematic, so I went with a sedan instead. And yes, I do think it looks a bit better but not enough of a difference to influence my buying decision.
