Look in the manual. There are a few oil options. I just bought some of the oil that BMW recommends. 10/60 was not to be found.

Where did you buy the car at?
You really can't find the oil except at BMW dealers and BMW shops.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

ok, i've realized you can't really get it anywhere, but whats the difference between the reccomended oil: 10w60, and 10w50 or 40 which could work as well? I'd like to know before i pour the 10w50/10w40 into the engine.

The dealer should top it off for free, it's part of the free service. Why would you buy a quart? Just go to a dealer, any BMW dealer. Isn't there 50 of them in the LA basin?

lol u dont even know what i did at santa monica, but i lost patients (which is real rare) and gave up, besides they had to close. I sat in the office and asked him whats up with BMW clowning on Lexus for maintenece fee's, they said its like gas, they dont supply it. I made them find me an exact line that says they dont cover oil, they were reading and gave up, and started with excuses, and then i called bmwna and the guy was being dumb himself. so i gave up and head to autozone and found that they dont sell it, so now im stuck with no oil lol

I still have the other bottle I carry in the trunk for emergencies like this. I can hook you up as a fellow M3 owner to get you out of the Danger zone if you get me a replacement a soon as you can? I work next to Brentwood and I found out the hard way about the oil not being available anywhere so I carry an extra bottle in the trunk everywhere I go. PM if you're nearby |

BTW- Center BMW and Southbay BMW are the two best local service departments that I've been to, I didn't purchase my M3 from neither one of them either. I avoid Santa Monica BMW at all costs because of the horror stories I've heard, even if they are like spitting distance from me too. You can't beat customer care and serivce.

Now, I'm not saying avoid South Bay, I'm just saying that if you are going to South Bay, set your appointments with Alex Caicedo, and request that the only technician that is allowed to touch your vehicle be Adam Smith. IMO, the only real Service Adviser/Technician team there. Depending on where in the LA Area you guys are, you can also try Pacific BMW in Glendale. Service Adviser Russell Wang. Most relaxed Service Adviser I have ever met, and the Shop Foreman there is the most honest one I have ever worked with. Actually, in the past, Pacific BMW is the one that got me that missing 1/2 litre of transmission oil, so it gets better. Course, these are just my personal experiences. Why not just go to Santa Monica BMW?
edit - nvm, i see you pissed them off too. So you've pissed off both BH BMW and Santa Monica? Santa Monica is a bunch of crooks, anyway. Why not go to Bob Smith BMW off of the 101? You're not going to ruin the car by driving it a quart down, just drive it easy until you get the oil. You can also order it online from Tischer.

lolol BH BMW is a whole issue that can not be described. Santa Monica wasnt really to piss them off, they didnt get mad, It was just to see how far i can pull them and how many excuses they can pull off.
Glendale & Russel +1 Got my car there, had a few recalls/issues the 3rd month i had the car, pulled in, no issues, answered all my questions on the spot even b4 inspecting, theyre pros! |
