M3 and regular 3series\' speakers difference.
Hi, I\'m thinking to buy used m3.
I know the enhanced speaker system is the best... However, is there any difference between M3\'s basic speakers and 3series\' speakers? I see some M3\'s basic speakers(with black nylon covers) has two rear seat side speakers and some have not... I don\'t know if there are also different level or numbers of basic speakers of M3. Thanks! |

On UK spec models there is :
Business Professional Individual Business is the billy basic version..... Professional is Logic7 powered by an external amplifier - with tweeters etc (black grills) Individual is the top of the range option (silver speaker grills). They may have different names in the US?? |

Some have actually said the premium sound system isn't worth it. I'm no audiophile so I wouldn't know.

Millions of threads on this topic. Do a search. But, in brief, there are only two options available in the US: the standard "Hi-fi" and the top-of-the-line "enhanced premium sound".
You can tell the difference by the silver ring around each of the speaker grilles in the enhanced system. The speaker covers are all black in the basic system. Your perception of the sound quality is, of course, totally subjective. I found the enhanced system to sound far superior to the basic system. Two caveats: 1) I have a high-end "audiophile" type system at home. In comparison, both in-car systems are crap....so if you are into seriously good sound, don't expect some sort of revelation from the enhanced system. 2) Based on reading these forums, it seems that it is easier to upgrade the basic sound system to an aftermarket system than the enhanced system. By all accounts, this will sound better than the factory enhanced system but is an involved process in terms of modding the car. I bought my car used and passed on several vehicles without the enhanced sound option. In retrospect, it probably was not worth the wait but, as I said, it does sound far better than the basic system. Like many others on the forum, I tend to turn the music down and turn the engine up! Actually, our plug-in upgrades don't mod the car at all. We have HiFi upgrade systems for the E90 and E92-based M cars that don't involve cutting a single wire nor modifying a single part - 100% reversible. Email us if you're interested. We will also send you at no charge a document explaining the differences in the various speaker-and-amp systems from BMW.

So...there were three different options before this year..?
1. basic speakers (like 3series' basic) 2. logic7 (like harman kardon) 3. enhanced premium speaker system. |

I had a 2008 3 series w/ the logic 7 and now have a 2011 m3 with basic. In the 335, I ended up turning off the signal processors and messing with the eq settings instead. In the m3 I put the fader more in front and its great. I'm no audiophile either, however I have heard many stereo systems that were tuned by reputable audio shops. Even the high end m3 system does not compare to a good aftermarket system, but either factory system will be "good enough" imho.
