PYSpeed.com | DYNO Video on Tecnocraft ENVY Intake System (18HP Gain!)
A few cold, hard facts, to keep in mind when taking in this dyno information: -Gintani Motorsports (GINTANI) is based in Van Nuys, CA and has increasing brand reputation for building beautiful, reliable and downright powerful supercharger systems for BMWs, and specifically ///M3s of all flavors. Dyno runs were completely supervised by Gintani owner, Alex, with a few other key eyewitnesses to the dyno runs. Upon arrival, Alex immediately stated, "Good luck on my dyno." -Dynos were performed with only two kinds of filters, stock and aFe, a BMC filter was not attainable at time of dyno, and to our shock was left out of the dyno tests (even though it is blatantly advertised with the ENVY™ system package). -After dyno calibration, verified by Alex to be correct against the 3 other E9X ///M3s that were at the location, the car was cooled for 30 minutes. -Dyno runs were then performed ALL in a row, with matching "cool times" between each series of runs when changing intake parts. -The video was filmed completely straight through, but edited to be under 6 minutes. If anyone has any additional questions about the validity of these dyno runs, please call Gintani or his staff, as Tecnocraft is non-affiliated with anything they even produce or manufacture as a product... I just checked out their website and it is a beautiful piece. Cheaper than GruppeM. I may get one of these.

what could be wrong with the car that it only got 313hp with a full exhuast system with no cats?? don't bone stock cars run btw 305-315hp??? needs a tune maybe??
nice gains on the intake system though, but i think once the car is fixed it could get the power from the full exhuast too

I believe it still has the primary cats. Plus its Gintani's dyno, which reads very low. Yes a tune would help also.

Maybe it's just me but i listened twice and the sound with the Full Envy system was much louder/deeper than without. Very interesting. I must say! Nice work!

Alex's dyno is no joke. If you're putting good numbers on that dyno then you are putting down serious power.

Seen the Technocraft in person, seems like a very quality kit. Good numbers.

Interesting. I see that the charge pipe is the most expensive piece, yet it seems that it's the smallest.
Also, I wonder if the air scoop blocks too much air from reaching the radiator, which could lead to overheating? It certainly looks nice. Cheers.

can you guys do a Charge pipe + STOCK filter to get a good baseline
or do a stock + AFE. Right now its not a fair comparison and doesn't really show soley the gains from the charger. Thank you!

I know it would be minimal, but what's the difference in weight between OEM vs complete ENVY Intake System? ~7-8 pounds?
Looking to drop weight of the car with every mod I consider for a cumaltive effect, especially anything on the front end and/or rotational even if it's only a few pounds..... |

Sorry to be hard on u guys but that's not a fair comparisson... u shld do charge pipe + OEM filter vs Stock Pipe + OEM filter or Charge pipe + AFE Filter vs Stock pipe + AFE Filter in this way, you can trully see the gains on the charge pipe and not attribute it to the filter |

The OEM readings were consistent (within ~3hp) but the modded cars fell off in performance to a far greater extent from run 1 to 3. For example, the full system made 331rwhp but on the third run made only 321.
Is this the ECU progressively adapting OUT OF AN UNSAFE LEAN CONDITION due to increased air which would temporarily raise HP? What would the car make on run 4-5, even after cooling? Or is this intake mod much more susceptible to heat soak than the OEM intake? The gains go from 13hp over stock+AFE (318 vs. 331) to 3-5hp (316-318 vs. 321) pretty quickly. |

I think they just let go the throttle earlier with the tests on the envy intake system than the stock system. Ed Lin

If you compare AFE vs. AFE+full system, at the end the delta from run 3 was 5hp. |
