Question ► Dealer Messed Up My Delivery ... Can This Be Resolved ? ►

i had my car on order and was tracking my production with a pcd date set at 8/6. long story short, my dealer thought i didn't want the car anymore for whatever reason and i just found out today they removed my name off the car and canceled my pcd.

so the car recently got on a boat, would it be too late to reschedule pcd? do the cars go on same boat from germany, nj vpc, and then to sc or am i fucked ?

i can't believe this shit and im fucking furious as to why the dealer thought i didn't want the car and they removed my name off and car and canceled my pcd date .

my name is back on the car and im hoping to god they can still reschedule pcd...

I would guess they can. August 6 is still a month and a half away. The boat mine was on went to Boston first then made two more stops in the U.S. and I am not even sure where the car got off before it went to the PCD.

My thinking is if they have an unhappy customer because of their goof they will make it happen.

I was talking to my CA about once a week so he was sure I was interested. Small dealer; I think it was his first M3 and the first PCD so I think he was having as much fun as I was.

If not maybe ask if they will split the cost of a one day M school.

You don't accidentially screw up pulling someone's name off an order unless:

a. You didn't leave a deposit
b. You're terrible communicator
c. Your dealer never had any intention to sell you the car and will let it go to the highest bidder

If we assume you communicated clearly to the dealer, and that you left a deposit, then the only thing left is option c. I urge you to get some confirmation from your dealer that the car is shown as being yours or things are going to get really messed up in a few weeks when they try and pull another stunt.

Get a copy of the Vehicle Inquiry Report (VIR) which will show your name listed under Customer, and the Priority will read: 1 - Customer Sold. Your SA should be able to give you a screen shot without a problem and email it to you.

i placed my order and left deposit on 5/6 and he e-mailed me the following days my production number and then the pcd confirmation.

i didn't communicate with him after that, never had to do so with any of my previous cars.

the car does have my name on it again and i confirmed with him again earlier today.

pcd is closed today and tom is sunday and he won't know until monday but do you guys think pcd is still possible?

i mean the boat does go multiple stops right so they would just leave my car on there for pcd?

if that's the case, your dealer f*cked up big time. i don't blame you for being pissed at all.

wish i could answer your question about PCD. if they mess up your PCD , by not getting you your reservation, i hope they make it up to you in some way.

Hate to say it, but it's highly likely that you'll get dealership delivery. They have a bill of lading for every car on the ship, and they pack cars on the boat by where they get taken off the boat. PCD cars get dropped in a different location than NY delivered cars (IIRC they go to the VPC in GA).

Dealership F'ed up, and should definitely have contacted you prior to removing your name. I think Alee is correct.. they were courting a higher bidder.

This.

All the more reason to jump ship.

yea guys i can't sleep over this, its so messed up. luckily i found out when i did or the day i go in to officially sign for the car they would have told me then...

but another fucked up thing is if they thought i canceled my order they never got back to me about refunding my deposit .. shit is messed up.

but im not in any position to jump ship as i was lucky to find an allocation and im sure now it would be impossible to find another.

the car got on a boat on sat so im hoping for good news on monday, will keep you guys posted...

long story short, my cargo ship landed in baltimore yesterday and today i finally got confirmation of my rescheduled pcd on original date.

so it seems you can still schedule pcd even when your car landed at the port but im sure any further into the prep process and it can't be done.
