BMW Performance Steering Wheel V2 question

I am ordering a 2013 M3 coupe. On the bmwusa.com website i found that the performance steering wheel V2 is not for DCT? On the website it says its not for M3s with dual clutch transmissions but i have seen other forum members and youtube videos with V2 steering wheels with DCT.

Do you need to purchase all this other things like: alcantra cover, HP infrared receiver, transmitter, adapter cable ?

http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductDet...3600&perf=true

Are there any other places where you can purchase this from ?

I have it installed it in my dct works but not consistently(shift lights). There are several vendors on here that sell them. Personally I would have just gotten the non electric. You already have shift lights on the tac.

You don't need to purchase anything extra. It should come with everything.

How come yours do not work consistently? From the videos and whatnot it seems pretty on point unless yours is not wired properly or something...

Several people have had issues with them, regardless of how they were wired.

I bought it all including the trackside timer. I took the alcantra center trim out to put the original back, it looks better that way, otherwise I love it!

It is a really odd problem but I will try and explain. This really only become an issue during track days and ill explain. So if the car has been sitting for a while, a few hours like over night or during work or a movie then everything works perfectly. But when when the car is being turned off and on with in short periods 30-1hr then something happens in the communication with the car. The only thing effected is the rpm reading, water and oil temp still read fine. It is an odd quark and BMW NA will not help with coding or anything because it states does not work with dct transmission. So yes it works as it states except in some circumstances. The only solution that I have found is to unhook and reconnect the battery and then it will work. But as stated on a day to day basis it works for me but when I go to my track and have back to back sessions where the car does not have time to "sleep" the rpm reading fails. But you always have the lights on the dash to fall back on. Hope this helps.

No, just on some of the DCT cars from what I've found.

Its made for the 6sp cars(and autos) so both of those seem to work w/o issue. Some of the other coders/techs on the forums may know exactly what the difference is here but I'm guessing the DCT cars get their RPM signal from another controller/CAN link in the car vs the DME one you tap on the 6sp/auto cars... sort of explains why there is no CAN signal to light the DCT LEDs(in the right display pod) on a 6sp car for example. That signal is probably coming from another controller in the car. You should be fine with a 6sp though and the V2 wheel.

Also shop around some... these go for ~$1100-1150 new for the base wheel/clock-ring/controller/wiring package in the US. You can save a good bit off the MSRP $1600 or whatever. Mine's been here a week and I'm getting itchy to find time to install it. Can't wait.

I really am shocked to hear that these performance wheels shift lights do not work properly. Good to know, now I wont get one.

There MUST be a fix for this somewhere. Has anyone every taken theirs to the dealership?
