Driving crappy cars for a while makes you appreciate the nicer ones that much more!
Agreed! On my first cars I had to literally put the key into the lock and turn, to open the door. Now the doors unlock automatically when I walk up!

I don't think, nor compare, my vehicle to others, unless I am at a light where I need to merge ahead....so I check the car next to me as to whether it could outrun me....

On the other hand, I have had some people blow past me or tailgate me when I am just trying to get somewhere at a rapid clip, thinking that they need to prove something....are they the neeners? LOL...like gnats...or flies....or....

OBTW, this thread is hilarious! Take it in the spirit that it was meant to be and .... lighten up! Neeners have a sense of humor, too...eh?

haha, great post. As long as you don't roll down your window and brag; there's nothing wrong with this. I will assume you worked hard for your nice car, so you should take pride in it. enjoy life i say

I don't know about being a neener, but I do size up cars around me when I drive. I'll notice if I drive by say a GTR or pick out a 335 from the masses of E9x here.

Driving my car is typically one large, prolonged "neener" experience for me.
I don't really have any shame in it. Some people let their pride swell when a friend meets their wife, some people get satisfaction from having friends come over to their new home, others share a new song they wrote...

For me, I bust my ass to be able to own a fun car, and I put a lot of effort into upgrading them. (This isn't to say I don't get a lot of pride out of my house or office etc). So yeah, I get my jollies when people admire it at an intersection..No shame in that. Half the people I pull up to in this area probably work at Google, Facebook, or nVidia, and have stock options worth more than my life. Let me have my small victory

I have a tendency to "look down" (not really, but the best way to describe it) at Bimmer owners that drive 3, 5, 7 series that give me the "neener" look for driving a 1 series. I see them as pretentious pricks that drive their car as a status symbol. Especially 335i drivers. I feel like yelling out the window, "I have a 335i as well and the 135i is a better driver's car!", but obviously I don't. I prefer the 135i over any of the BMW's currently sold sans the M cars. And M cars can "neener" at me all day long because I'd trade up for one in a second (at least for the M3).

Well, if I have to be pretentious to have my car heat and cool my beverage, so be it.

Really, though, I prefer driving the 135i to my 335i

They're just stupid for even being arrogant enough to look at you that way.
It's not a look either. Just an internal feeling that you keep to yourself.

My favorite is when there is some guy who thinks he's really badass, and he does the "I don't even see you" straight forward look. Won't glance over or anything. Unless he's a real slime and tries to pick me up at a stop-light.

I get the "reverse neener" feeling all the time too - when we're in Florida our car there is a Honda Element. I love it though, it's an awesome truck. You can hose it out!

Yes, that is a great feature in the 3. I also much prefer the cup holders in the 3.

This is one of those threads that has some posts that literally make me laugh out loud (especially thinking neener neener neener to myself). I know what you're talking about, I try not to compare too much but it happens.

If a nicer car pulls up next to me I love to appreciate it for what it is. If I really like it I usually try to get the driver's attention and give him a thumbs up or ask him about it.

I thought all E9X have it. If you open the center console there's a cup holder with a vent. It works great for canned sodas since they are small enough to close the top.

i hate waving to people or giving them a thumbs up. they always look at me like "WTF???". like once i was merging into a highway, and some young chick in a 328 (same combo as mine) comes flying by me. she kept looking in her rear view at me, so i switched over to catch up to her, i honk and give her a thumbs up and she just stares blankly like "........................................" wtf

Yes, except walking on a 355 is nothing to be proud of. Now, you walk on a 430, and I'll be impressed.

I never realized it, but now I feel the reverse neener you mentioned. Years ago I had an E46 M3, and adored it...until it got totaled. I then got a 335 since the new M wasn't out at the time. Loved the 335 as well. Once prices came down on the E9x M3, I picked up an E90 M3. I always appreciated ANY BMW, and loved seeing others on the road. Recent economic circumstances had me re-prioritize my finances, so I had to get rid of the M, but picked up a beautiful E90 330. Now I'm beginning to recognize the snobbiness from other BMW drivers in higher models. Each time I see an E46 M3, I try to give a hi or something, but they always seem to be too cool for school. The E9x M drivers are a bit warmer (maybe cuz the E46 M crowd is getting younger???) I don't feel I was ever snobby to other BMW peeps, but now I do feel a little "shunned" from other higher model BMWs on the road. Of course, these are not coming from enthusiasts who know better

Dam..how did I write so much?

True. I guess I give thumb ups to the older drivers I see. Pretty much any modded E9X gets a nod from me though.
