Wheel Review- Forgeline GA1R
Recently the car was fitted with Forgeline GA1R rims and Michelin Pilot Super sport Rears are an a 19” x 11”, fronts 19” x 9” with 295 x 30 x 19 and 255 x 35 x19 tyres.
For me the results were outstanding. I previously had BBS CH-R rims with similar specs and these were excellent but I wanted a more open and aggressive look to compliment and expose more, the Harrop Ultimate brake kit, and these fit the bill perfectly Fitment is perfect, no guard contact at all. Forgeline wheels are based in USA and all wheels are individually made for each car to the customer’s specification with tested and proven offsets. The Forgeline GA1R is a fully-forged one-piece monoblock wheel. The concave design of the GA1R not only looks great, but allows plenty of room for caliper clearance and extreme brake fitment, while the one-piece monoblock forging and I-beamed spoke design yield a wheel that is extremely stiff with fatigue strength. These wheels can be ordered in any colour with many styles available. Being manufactured in USA there is no import duty on these wheels. Here are some photos of the wheels |

The fronts are 9 kgs and the rears 9.5kgs. This video from Forgeline goes into all the specifics of this model (except the weight)

Running 265/35/19 up front and 305/30/19 in rear. I really like the beefier look of the front (vs a typical 265/30) and with my eibach springs the drop and wheel well gap looks perfect for my tastes.
I'll post up some pics once I get a chance to wash her up.

DaveDee, looks great! When you step back, can you really even tell the front is a 35 series versus the 30 rear? Just curious because I plan to run a similar setup.
DaveDee & Brian0473, did either of you notice a difference in steering feel running the 255/265 in the front? Would you do anything differently size wise? Thanks |

Nice wheels, believe Dinan has also switched to these for their primary performance wheel offering. With the 19 inch looks plus weight reduction vs ZCP you get to have your cake and eat it too! What offsets are the front/rear?

but the 255 only has a +1.1% difference rolling diameter than stock, the 265 x 35 would have a 2.1% difference but have a better width ratio of original front to rear width from stock (265/245) Mine do not hit the guards or guard liners under any circumstances, even with 3 passengers. I wanted the 305s rear but wasn't game and told they may hit but the 305 x 30s are a better rolling diameter match than the 295 x 30s. Apparently too much variation from stock can cause DCT problems. I'm certainly happy with the current setup, BUT wider is always better and with a good SC setup more with on the back = better traction and the 295s will break traction with the Harrop supercharger. I could not he happier with the current setup |

That's a really good question, so we have to first define expensive.
These wheels are an individually crafted wheel made from a 28 KG billet and finished to the customer specification. They are light and strong and are ideal for track, street and show and just ooze quality. I think they are very inexpensive for what they are. Here are some examples based on the US price (as some may attract import duty and different charges so this is a baseline price) Forgeline GA1R 19" x 9" wheel finished to the customers spec $1545 (USD) BBS F1 (lightweight monobloc) 9.5"X19" $2095 (USD) HRE P1 monobloc finished to customer specification (extra) $2200 (USD) These are all top of the line monobloc wheels, you can get much cheaper wheels but they are not the same spec, can and do fail. I think the M3 is worthy of such a good quality wheel and liken it to a line in my favorite ad.... "what will it be... the scotch you would rather drink or the scotch you would rather pay for" |
