A couple quick points:

-Bimmerworks is NOT a dealership. It is, by most accounts, a reputable indy shop and a BMWCCA sponsor.

-I purchased my prior 335i from Daniel's and was very pleased with their sales and service. I bought my M3 elsewhere (thanks to David Aviles of Eurocarsonline) but will have it serviced at Daniel's.

-When asked about the unusually high price, the owner of Bimmerworks responded by saying that he is concerned about scratching your car. That is absurd. Any decent garage/body shop/race shop/indy shop/dealership will be careful about scratching your 70 thousand dollar M3 or your 100 thousand dollar M6. I don't believe that Bimmerworks wants your business.

This somehow came up today at my garage. The guy said that you're "supposed to" according to BMW's standards, charge 8hrs labor for suspension work. He, obviously charges for like 2-3, but that's how garages make money.

Yea I guess....but Bimmerworks isn't going to make any money doing business with the OP. The point of reputable indy shops is that you, the customer, are supposed to get dealership quality service(I know, a potential oxymoron) at discounted prices.

An indy shop becomes irrelevant when it simply charges what the dealer charges or is supposed to charge.

Agreed 100%, just pointing that part out as to the reason.

Well they hope that you buy the parts through them. When you bring your own parts (I'm not sure if the opener has the springs or what), they only make money on labor, obviously so would probably gravitate towards overstating labor hours and $/hour.

Agreed, although I can't imagine that 80 bucks an hour for labor (this is a guestimate) in this economy wouldn't be desirable for any shop. They wouldn't charge XX dollars per hour for anything if they weren't taking profits from that figure.

80$ an hour??? That's incredibly CHEAP. I'm happy with $110. My dealer is charging $220.

I sent him the DIY from the forum and I was told that was the "half ass way" and if I want it done that way he could do it himself not have one of his mechanics just bc that's not the way they do things.
I think I'll take it somewhere else lol
