Taller front tires

What is the reason for some owners to run taller front tires compared to rears? Any effect on performance? Pros and cons?

For instance, 265/35/19F and 295/30/19R.

It is all about compromises. You have to factor in new overall tire diameter, stock overall tire diameter, wheel width, tire sizing availability. Sometimes you can't always get the tire you want in the aspect ratio needed. If you use wider wheels, you will most likely want a wider tire unless you are going for a stretch look. I can expand much further later when I have some time.

I won't run taller tires in the front... My theory is that the car's traction control was designed for a larger diameter in the rear. I would consider a square set but not a larger diameter in the front.

The goal for most people is to maximize width while maintaining the offset ratios. 275/35R19 and 295 or 305/30R19 can end up having a similar circumference, depending upon the tires.

265/35R19 has a larger circumference than the stock 245s, yes, but I think what people are focusing on is how it compares with the rear circumference.

Isn't square in effect making the front as compared with rear larger in diameter? (Personally I love square for looks and handling.)

That's why I used the phrase "I would consider..."

. To clarify, I'm ok with increasing the front diameter slightly more than stock but not ok with increasing the front to a diameter greater than the rear. A square set makes the front diameter equal to but not greater than the rear. Note that my opinion is based on theory about the traction control system and not factual data.

Fwiw - I have been running 275/35/18 front with 285/35/18 rear on my last two wheel sets. Before that I had a 275/30/19 and 295/30/19 combo. 295's are more difficult to fit in the rear without rubbing on a lowered car (offsets need to be spot-on).

265/35/19 will rub upfront, definitely.

If you want to run that width, then you need a 30 profile

Assuming Im running PSS, rounder walls. I would run 275/30/19 and 305/30/19. Can someone confirm that this would work?

The 305's in the rear will rub with this offset. 275/30/19 and 295/30/19 will work perfectly.

I just ordered some Avant ZCP style wheels in 19x9 et 18 front and 19x10 et 25 rear. I am putting them on my 2011 M3 (Stock EDC suspension) and will be running PSS. Would yall recommend sticking with 30 or 35 profiles? I wanted to run 255 35 front and 285 30 rear like the GTS without rubbing. Any help would be greatly appreciated
