Lighter weight materials reduce the chance of neck injury. Not sure how much difference it makes if you have HANS, tho. If you're using a HANS compatible harness, it's the best way to reduce neck injury.

This is critical, though a little bet less so if the helmet is one that has removable pads that can be used to fine tune the fit.

I have the AR, my friend has the S, they are basically the same except the S uses lighter weight materials so the helmet is lighter. Also, the S comes with a hard helmet case which is quite nice.

Should have a hologram SA rating. At least that's what any competent tech inspector's going to look for.

my previous ones just have the date in regular sticker. where is this hologram supposed to be? i examined it and dont see anything. also this helmet isnt very low profile it seems? feels like i have 5 inches of helmet above my head.

found it. no hologram. have to pull apart the liner to find the sticker inside. seems like an exterior sticker like in the past would work?

Wanted the AR-10 price wise, but helmets sizes within the same brand can fit different and it wasn't right - so went Si12 and it's def. a lighter helmet.

You're probably just getting used to the weight. How was the track day?

A little disappointing. I felt slow but maybe that was a good sign and I actually was getting faster. No timer allowed for BMWCCA. I had instruction for the first time in a while and we worked on doing certain sections different. Now I need to put things back together. I feel out of sorts with an instructor and can't really hustle it as well for some reason.

Big neck is the bomb! My neck was in the best shape ever when I was wearing a lacrosse helmet every day : )

It's normal to feel slow and clumsy with an instructor. They typically call attention to something that you've moved to your subconscious. Usually you've moved a bad habit or something preventing you from progressing. Totally normal to feel slower because you're having to think and process more.

Guys, just came back from NJMP Lightening and used the HJC Si12, great helmet and glad I went for it. The weight, visor visibility, and comfort were as expected and more.

If it's a brand that fits your head, Highly Recommended

How thick is the top of the helmet?

I'm 6'7" and I want to start tracking but needless to say I don't have much additional headroom in an E90 w/ a sunroof. Does anyone know the lowest profile helmet that is approved?

That's what I was figuring.. sucks. To make it even worse I'm very "torso tall" with only a 32' inseam.

Will they let you race an E93 w/ the top down? Maybe I should trade in lol.

good thought but no. if i had know prior to purchase i would have looked specifically for a sunroof delete car and things would be fine. like the e90 far more than the e92 so that wasnt an option.
