Removing rubber

What cleaner are you guys using to remove the rubber from the car after track events? I have been using car wash soap and a sponge with a soft mesh on the outside and some elbow grease, but there has to be a better way.

Goo-gone, WD-40 or ScratchX 2.0 and microfiber.

I've been through that routine too. My opinions below
WD-40 works great for some rubber spots but mostly not much better than anything else.
Waterless spray cleaner (Griots, Meguire's etc) - Doesn't really work
3M adhesive remover (what can I say, I was getting desperate) - Works a bit on some but not really consistent

Goo-Off - Far and away the most effective rubber remover

I've been told that Castrol SRF brake fluid works good too, but I've not been brave enough to try it, even on an under surface.

To prevent the problem in the first place is wax the whole front of your car with Pledge furniture polish. Wash afterwards with dish soap. Yes, this will strip the wax off your car but is the easiest fix in dealing with those pesky rubber spots.

Generally for me, I wash the car and then have them use some detailing thing (I keep forgetting to ask the name of it...) to take it off

If they miss a spot, then I have something at home I use that I got from the previous owner of my Z4. I'll get the name later

It works great, it's just a pain in the ass as it takes a lot of time.......it's not a spray thing.
Also, I've given up trying to keep my car perfect...
After I went off a couple times I realized I'm tracking it, and it is what it is. The car is not a show car lol

but i still don't want globs of black stuff on it haha

I tape up the lower side and lower parts of the car. Clean up is roughly 2 minutes, and its as easy as pulling the tape off. No chips, no stains, no marks.

That's what I used to do...but it's getting so tiresome... takes me at least an hour and a crap load of tape.

I've decided to just cover the head lights and my camera.

I'll just touch up the car before lease ends


(though I say this, let's see if I actually follow through lol. I still did some wrapping last sunday)

Since I do this every weekend. Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover - Works the best. Spray ..30secs...wipe. I have tried them all ;-)

btw from teh looks of your tires, the tread is falling apart. may want to keep an eye on that...

I was given a bottle of the mcguires race rubber remover and it is great. The owner said that the grand am guys were all using it. When I asked him if it will strip off my wax he paused, looked right at me and exclaimed "YES!"

I also found out by accident that my zaino aio is hands down the best rubber remover out there. It is the only thing that removed the rubber melted into my clear bra. It's a win win since it polishes at the same time.

Premier TTR works great. Just used it on the clear bra and non covered painted surfaces and took off all rubber marks and bug juices. Little pricy at $30, but should last a lifetime.
