3M vs Venture Shield on AW?

I wanted to go with Venture Shield because I can do the whole hood and fenders, one thing I hate about my current 3M setup is that I can see the film as I get close to the car since it only covers partial area. And it is some what yellow but not that bad.

I have talked to many dealers and each say the other one gets yellow over time. I'm worried about Venture Shield since two dealers themselves admitted that this will happen if I don't wax every two months??? which I find ridiculous. So it sounds like Venture Shield is a lot worst than 3M?

What do you guys recommend on white? since it's the color you can see the yellow'ing the most....

Avery Dennison Nano-Fusion is the only way to go if you can find a dealer who can get it. I have my whole hood covered in it and it is impossible to tell that it is even on there unless you look at the seems that are wrapped around the underneath of the hood. Its expensive but VERY worth it! Guaranteed not to yellow for life! Look it up.

Goodness ///Armin this topic has been discussed a whole bunch. You would be best served doing a search. Having said that, 3M owns Ventureshield but they are different films. If you do a search, you will note that it is 80% installer, 20% film - give or take - and there are as many opinions as posters. Good luck.

Maybe you should do a search yourself before talking. There are a total of 13 topics when you do a search with title search of "Ventureshield". None address the specific question that how it performs on AW, how often it needs to be detailed or specific examples of people who have had it and had problems.

I also completely disagree with you comments. The 3M is hard to put on but VentureShield is very easy and it's "yellowing" has nothing to do with the installer.

I've had VentureShield for about 42k miles and 2 years and it looks exactly like when I got it applied. My car is a DD however my car is very dark SG and I'm a bit obsessive about how much I was and wax the car.

I'v got VentureShield on my AW E92 M3, and it looks fine. It's already saved me over $1500 in repair fees (I had a rusty bolt hit the hood and the clear bra took most of the damage, there was some particle transfer which just required polish). Mine's been on for over a year now, with no yellowing.

IMHO, there are two key things if you're going to get a clear bra on an AW car.

1. If you're covering a panel, cover the full panel. For example, if you do the hood don't just do a 24" strip, do the full hood. This way you won't have any seams showing, which is where on any car you'll notice dirt and discolouration the most.

2. Make sure you keep your clear bra clean. Seal it, and wipe bugs/tar off as soon as you can. I use Plexus to clean the bra, and Menzerna Power Lock to seal.

Avery nano fusion isnt wide enough to cover the whole hood and fenders. The best route is VentureShield. Do not usea wax on it... find a good sealant. Most waxes yellow as they age and the film will absorb whatever you apply to it. So a good sealant will prevent that from happening. One more thing, if you dont have time to maintain your car at least every two months maybe you should get a low maintenance car. Two months is plenty of time to get a coat of sealant on the film... and you should definitely be taking care of your paint that often.

Have ventureshield on the car. Been on or 9k miles and no yellowing whatsoever. Looks the same as day 1 but it's saved me numerous times already.

OP, you find it "ridiculous" to wax a clear bra every two months? Are you that freakn lazy?!

It's a simple thing which takes no more than 2 minutes if you just do the clear film parts, maybe 15 minutes for the whole car.

Ventureshield is 3M. So it's a little strange to ask which is better. 3M bought Ventureshield a while ago. The latest clear bra product is the Ventureshield film with a new 3M adhesive, which is what I just had installed on my GT-R yesterday.

Had Ventureshield on my 997. Easier to see on bright silver, but it was virtually invisible and did not yellow over 2 years. Never sealed it or waxed it. Only cleaned via car wash and Speed Shine. Had the M3 done and it saved me after I hit a shredded tire, which marked the clear bra but of course not my bumper. Virtually invisible even with a partial cover on MR!

Okay...but I'm not exactly sure how suggesting that someone do a search on a topic that has been widely discussed and that might be helpful on part of his question, then telling him that 3M owns Ventureshield which may play into his decision, then saying it is 80% installer and 20% film which will make a big difference in the quality of his install, all of which I discovered recently by using this forum, is sh&#ting all over someone. But whatever.

WRONG!!! It is now. Some dealers can get ahold of the larger sheets. I know because I have my entire hood done in AVD and it looks SWEET! My dealer has the hook up some how and he was able to get some large sheets.

A bit of info on the ventureshield for you to consider.

Ventureshield carried an unlimited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer until 3m purchased them. The formula that 3m uses to make ventureshield is the exact same formula that was used when it carried the unlimited lifetime warranty(which included yellowing). Take it for what it's worth but I believe VS is the best. It may not carry the same warranty but it's the same stuff that used to.
