Mine isn't a garage queen but it is only a daily driver in the summer. It will be put away from November through Feb. I have a fairly nice suv which is a perfect daily driver in the winter. I also love being able to drive the suv any day it rains and keep my baby clean in the garage for the next sunny day.

One thing to consider for those who hate garage queens is that you get to fall in love with your car even more since you don't get to drive it every day!

I bought mine when I was stationed in England and purchased it through Park Lane BMW and picked it up in Germany. I'm now in the SW with it and it's an 08 with 36K miles. I drove it alot more in Europe where I personnely enjoyed driving alot more than here. I'm keeping it so I tend to not drive it as much plus I have a SUV I use as my daily driver and don't stress over it as much getting screwed up by rocks and idiots parking next to me dinging my door cause it's a 1999 explorer with over 160K.

Anyway, I had the privalige to drive this machine from England to Rome, Italy and toured South of France and the Italian west coast. Tracked it at the Nurburgring, Brands Hatch, Monza and Snetterton race tracks.

But best of all was enjoying it at steady cruise over 120mph in Europe. It'll never see that again here in the US.

I have an 08 e92 M3. a few weeks ago, I put almost 4,000 km over the course of 2 weeks.

On the highway, my best was 24.2 mpg with luggage and no wife/kids. (I flew my wife/kids down) on the way back, we decided to split the trip home into 3 days. Averaged 21mpg.

manual trans.
15mpg in the city tho

I have taken lots of road trips, to the point that most of my 32k miles are highway miles. She's a very comfy car, and great for road trips for 1-2 people!

My ED was 1k miles in 7 days through DE, CZ, AUS, and IT. Then I had PCD 6 weeks later and did another 1k back home. I have made several 300+ mile trips and love every second of it. It just turned 1 year old and I have 21k miles. My E39 M5 was a little nicer on the long hauls, but this is a great trip car.

It's your car so do what you will, but I'll never understand the garage queen mentality. This isn't some 1 of 25 signed and numbered exotic. If you only drive this 1000k per year why not rent a Ferrari or McLaren when the itch comes up? That makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Every time I get it my car I am reminded why I have worked so hard to get it. It erases bad moods and shitty days in 15 secs flat. I also drive it year round in the Midwest. I mount some good snows on and I'm loving every minute.

I don't pay for something to sit in the garage and depreciate. I tend to like to enjoy it while it depreciates.

Heck yeah I drive it. I have an 09 and this summer it's been to Elkhart Lake (I live in SC) which is just over 2,000 miles round-trip and week after next I'm going to Chicago then Mid-Ohio for the O'Fest and then home again, not sure on mileage but it will probably be 2,500 miles or so. I think it's a great road car and great on trips. That's in addition to trips to Atlanta, Charlotte and other places around here.

It's sad to hear about the garage queens. The car is too fun to leave in the garage gathering dust. Mine was supposed to be a garage queen too, but it became my daily driver. I'll drive for an hour on the way to pick up some milk and bread LOL!

Big Sur & 17 mile drive. I felt like I could drive forever that day.

I agree it should be enjoyed. But since I plan on keeping mine for a very long time. Got to preserve it a bit. That's ok though. I enjoy driving my SUV as I can beat up on it and drive over curbs, trash cans, lol! and don't give a shit.

I do want to take a long road trip up the Cali coast line someday. Maybe next Spring.

YES!! I love this quote.

I'm planning on driving mine whenever I want to take a nice, long roadtrip.

I am in SC also (Like VictorH) and have 80k on my '08. I happily do road trips, the past 3 OktoberFests and the next one at Mid-Ohio. Both my wife and I will do two days of track and the autoX. This is a wonderful car, not really rare and if it breaks, I will get another one!!
