Im sure the M3 is the better car for the track, but since I don't race my car I guess it doesn't matter. Im holding my breath for the f82 M3 with the tri-turbo!
that is a very good assessment of what the two cars do better (although I disagree on the backroad portion which is sort of like a track day!)

but the m3 is getting into the open lane first, if both cars were to try simultaneously. or maybe thats on the driver.

There is (usually) run off at the track and (usually) none at all on backroads or in the canyons

Sort of like a big difference; please stay safe

I wouldn't bet on a E89 Z4 vs. E9x M3 stock vs. stock. full bolt ons Z4 vs. SC M3 would be an interesting one though

hence the sort of....

at the track you can test your limits - although I still wouldn't like to go into the run off.

in the canyons - go to your limit as long as you know the roads.

Even at the track, if its my first time there, I don' t go all out. I learn the course first.

My canyon run videos ALWAYS promote safety first (bike riders, staying in your own lane, etc).

Ok, "this car can beat that car" arguments are just silly.

You put enough time and MONEY into ANY car, and it will be able to beat any other car.

If I put $1 million into an AMC Gremlin, I could make it beat a Veyron at the strip.

So these hypothetical tuned cars and what is fastest is just silly.

Yes you are right.

Here in the UK a test was done on a track for a TV Show. A standard FQ400 against an AWD Lamborghini on a track . The Lambo just got in the way of the Evo and ended up spinning. The Evo driven by a journalist the Lambo driven by a Pro racing driver.
