INPA coding success & failure

Hi guys,

My brother did some INPA coding on his 335i, so I figured I give it a shot, it was free for me ($39 for the OBDII tool to code)

Some things I coded (very easy I might add):

1) CIC i-drive legal screen is now gone

2) Comfort Access/FOB will roll up windows + close mooonroof + swing in side mirrors when you hold the lock button

3) Corner light + corner LED light delete, now they just turn on when the signals or hazards are on. More of a novelty, and is considered illegal in the US because the amber no longer is light w/ the headlights on.

4) Last vehicle memory position. I had an issue with mine that never displayed my selected audio track when I re-started the car, it just displayed the very top portion where it gives you the option to "store music," and would never play the last CD track that I was listening to. Now it goes right to the CD, i-pod, or USB track previously selected.

5) Added and instant MPG digital display reading via the center display

6) V=mph now displays the vehicle speed based on the speed sensor (I think) vs. speedometer reading. I may turn this one off, I hate that the speedo displays 50mph, but the V=mph shows 47mph. The V=mph is the more accurate one now.

7) Angel eyes slow fade-in when unlocking car, regardless of the position the headlight setting is in (auto/on/off)

8) inactivated the BFD lights that come on with the brake lights (the inner most set of lights, not the foglights in the trunk lid portion). Now only the outer most lights come on when braking, but the BFD lights still work when you panic brake. I may undo this one

9) Windshield wipes always goes to their resting position when you turn off the car

10) Automatic Day/Night mode for the I-drive (was manual before)

11) auto unlock when turning car off

failure:

1) I was hoping to see if I can change the servo steering settings to default to "sport" Does anyone know which module to access for the servo steering settings?

2) I could not locate the DCT module to default to last state. Does anyone know how to access this?

three more things I was able to figure out this afternoon reading through coding forums:

1) disable the "stop" feature when you use the window auto-up and open the door. Now the auto-up function works even if you open that specific door; normally the auto-up function stops on that door if it's opened

2) Euro MDM mode (US mode = nicht_activ)

There are more modules the INPA/NCSexpert can reach, such as more DCS functions and apparently the TCM and ECU modules. I'm going to try to figure out if I can adjust the default launch control RPM, control if it starts in D or S mode, etc etc...

3) Auto "eject" key when turning off car, even though I have Comfort Access, I sometimes press the key in the slot, and when you stop the engine, the key automatically pops out (this works with non-comfort access cars too)

This is a very easy program to use if anyone is interested in coding (and more) on their own. The set-up of the program is the more difficult part because you have to modify certain folders. Check out E90post.com and search INPA.

Or for those that rather pay someone to code, these are some idea's/options to toss around for when you have BPM or another vendor code for you.

Are you sure auto day/night mode works? I don't think it's possible on e90/92.

I have a feeling this is going to get locked if you start sharing how its done. This forum is controlled by sponsors and you're taking their business... In a way.

Anyway, great job on that stuff... It's pretty simple once you get the right version ista files that correspond with your vehicle.

Sorry that would be really sad if it was closed. If a skill is that easy than anyone should be able to talk about it and anyone trying to sell that service should find a service that is something the average person cannot do. Not saying everyone can do coding but business is all about providing a resource or product for people that is either something they cant otherwise do, don't want to do or a way to do it better. If you cant offer any of these three things than you should acknowledge that you cannot command a premium, or any money if it is easy enough. This forum if closed, would be totally anti-capitalism which would be weird given we are in the U.S

that's sad and if true all members should be pissed. This right here is the point of the forums; the sponsors all make their $$$ selling parts; this is public info. Also no sponsors are hurting for $$$; have you seen what some of these guys drive?

If you've been here long enough, you'd see threads get closed all the time.

quick update, setting the automatic day/night mode to = acktiv doesn't even allow the manual intervention of "night" mode, so it looks like this shouldn't be done, at least on USDM models. I'm not sure what the difference is, and what the E90/E92/E93 is missing to get this function to work?

Also, this thread is strictly informational, no one is trying to make a buck, so I hope it doesn't get locked either.

You need a sensor that will know its day/night. I tried that too and it did nothing. Setting one of the buttons to night mode is the easiest and more conventional thing to do.

Shouldn't that be the same sensor as auto-headlights (or really technically, just headlights on)?

It should... But I don't think just changing that one setting to active is it either.

K-DCAN INPA cable that you can find on ebay, it's $31.99 + Shipping. To install the software, you'll have to visit bmw coding forums, or visit e90post coding section for more directions.

You are using logic, that's your problem.

Plus if you can eliminate your competition, unfairly, then you don't need to follow your steps
