Just an idea...the BRZ is awesome but if you really want to save money consider a 2008 -2010 Cobalt SS turbo charged . In 2008 the HP went way up they ditched the lame supercharger and went turbo. Can be bought for 15k, VVT, DOHC, Direct injection, 260 HP, 260 torque, ran the nurburing in 8:22 100% stock. Just a thought because from every performance stand point it kills the BRZ for way less. I found one bone stock with only 7k miles and I am buying it for 13,500...as a hobby car and back up in case I gotta sell the money pit M3 lol . It truly is a mechanic and tuners dream...even has a performance display that has everything that mother BMW hides from us.....including:
"coolant temperature, inlet air temperature, fuel pressure, air/fuel ratio, cam phaser angle and overlap for both the intake and exhaust, spark advance and knock retard, engine horsepower and torque, g-forces and your speed in miles per hour."

One of my MUSTS that I could not and would not give up was rear wheel drive. I just ordered ordered some new wheels and rubber today BTW. This may work out ok.

I love my brz. First thing to do is add FI and you'll be happy. There's so many parts for this car and it's a lot cheaper to play with than the M3. I would have both though. They're two different cars.

FI, suspension, wheels, and you are set!

I have never considered people who lease an M3 to be M3 owners, the correct way to call them is m3 renters not owners. The same applies to people who have not paid off their loan and sell the car. They too were never m3 owners. This country corrupt financials practices has basically siphoned and killed healthy domestic manufacturing industries. In the meantime to condone what they were doing they have let people buy things they could not afford (homes, cars) so that corrupted financials could print more money while everybody could live beyond their means. The whole thing is disgusting for people who do real work for a living. Too big too fail really meant that the evil financials have been allowed to run the country and have the highest seat of power in this country which of course is a corrupt state. Then we see people loosing their homes or loosing their m3 but be certains that those bankers who underwrote those loans aren't loosing anything. They're fat pigs laughing all the way at the big banks and at hedge funds. The reality is that America is about 100:1 overvalued. Yeah that's right 100:1. When that will become apparent to the world it's not m3 that americans will have to sell, but their land and buyers won't be americans...

I am sorry to hear that you have to sell PhillyNate

If I were on that side of the country, the beers/shots would be on me, brother.

PhillyNate, I feel your pain. I just moved to Boston for my job and unfortunately the M3 couldn't come with as she would've had to sit on the streets of Southie. In sum, the M3 would either be banged up or stolen by the time I get to move. However, I still have ownership of it as I lended it to my father for the next couple of years. I just couldn't part with her as she is a 2011 ZCP with very low miles. Good luck with everything!

I would not get rid of M3, unless my M3 cost $5k market value , and cost of fixing cost more than $10k. Overall, my kid loves the M3. I am glad that I bought the E93, instead of E90.
I get a huge smile when I see my kid yelling "yay!!! M3 Daddy's car!"

Mine was exactly the same 13.8k miles. Thank you so much.

Just a suggestion since we were discussing reducing costs. It also is one of the best performance cars you can buy for that price. It honestly from all aspects is a superior performance car to the BRZ. HP, Torque, quarter mile, track etc... I honestly cant see how one cannot recognize the value in a car that runs the Nurburgring only 15 seconds slower than our M3...(stock NO modifications!) and only cost 13k! ...It is way uglier than the BRZ however.....so good choice OP.

Sorry to hear this. You have always been a great contributor to this community. The Scion will still be a fun ride!! Just curious though.....on a 3 year old M3, how much will you really be saving by doing what you are doing and will it really make a difference in the long run?
