I reach around 145 at the end of front straightaway at Autoclub Speedway (banked roval) in my E90, but don't feel the front end get any particularly light (have no front splitter, nor rear wing). But, I haven't tracked other car(s) to compare it against.

I've taken the M3 up to the governor many times on the Autobahn and it never felt floaty. In comparison, I took my 335i before that up to the same speeds and the rear end starts getting floaty. More recently, I took the M3 up to Virginia International Raceway and had it up to ~140 on the straights and it felt solid as a rock.

My E90 felt light, floaty, whatever at the top of the backstretch at VIR. All cars are going to be 'light' here but I did feel it wanting to wander around a bit. This was when I had the OEM shocks with Dinan springs. I was running EDC in the Normal setting. When I switched it to the firm setting the car felt more planted. That is why I recommended to OP try that.
Now with my KW coilovers it feels planted all the time.

Hi guys, sorry to jump in this is my first post so hello.
I have a 335d on a 2010 and I found this thread during a search on the interweb. I have this same problem on my car, and it's not right. The car feels like its windy or tram lining even at 80-90 mph. I'm going to put the run flats back on and get it in for warranty as something must be broke. there is no way a BMW should drive like this, my others haven't. |

I wonder what kind of tires everyone has and what condition they were in as well.

I had Bridgestone run flats on and It did it.
Then I've changed to brand new good year f1 asymmetric 2 and still does it. I had then 4 wheel tracking done to BMW spec with 300kg ish of bonus weight. Still does it. That's what makes me think something's broke. |

Fixed! It was down to some bad tracking at the rear. The car feels good oven at 150-160 so feels solid at 80-90 mph. Controlled under hard fast breaking also. It feels safe now.
My car is a 2010 335d m sport on 18 Goodyear non runflats. |

Compared to every other car i've driven the M3 feels very good at 160+ on the autobahn, excellent even. Tyre pressure makes a big difference at high speeds, too high pressure can give that 'floating' feeling.

UPDATE:
Turns out, indeed, to be caused by slight irregularity on the front straight at The Ridge Motorsports Park track. I've now driven at Thunderhill and Pacific Raceways and then back to The Ridge and now realized that the seam in the pavement is causing the light feeling. Yay! |
