It did sound a tad weird right before startup, but after it sounded normal. Might have something to do with the starter system or a low battery. Have you not dirven it for a long time?

Never hurts to take it in and get it checked out if you think something is wrong.

The loud clicking noise is normal but your car didn't seem to want to start right away. My car does this sometimes too but I don't think its normal.

I agree that the CRANKING is abnormal. It almost sounded like your car wasn't going to start for a second. Almost sounded like no fuel?

Anyways, after the engine fired up it seemed totally normal.

Does your engine start (read crank) like that every single time you start it cold? If you can successfully reproduce this scenario repeatedly (BMW is notorious for stating "no problem found"), then I would take it to your local dealer and have them check it out just for good measure.

Hope all is well with your ///M!

It sounds normal in the 5-10 second range, when its cold or I haven't started it in a while it does the same thing....

Yep. Mine starts like that almost every time (when engine is cold) since new... but I don't use the car regularly. Remember without being able to 'prime' the fuel pump and do all the diagnostics before firing up the engine (I always do that with normal keys), cranking takes longer until diagnostics are finished and fuel pressure is up. We're only talking about a fraction of a second, so no biggie. Even when not using the car for a month or longer, it does exactly as the video. Well, except a banging noise a second after starting that happens every once in a while, but not lately. No worries man.
