Initial Impressions with Active Autowerkes Gen 2 Level 3 Supercharger Kit
Just got my car back last night from Active after doing the following:
- Upgrade to Gen 2 Level 3 Supercharger - Swapped out bearings and bolt with VAC bearings and ARP bolts - Swapped out old OEM front control arm bushings with Powerflex units - Performed an alignment - Swapped out OEM valve cover gaskets as they were leaking oil - Added two other steel oil lines in the rear near the trunk Didn't really have a chance to open her up last night, but the initial impressions with the updated Gen 2 Level 3 Rotrex supercharger compared to the HKS unit is that the power is more overt...the feeling is like the power is always on tap ready to pounce unlike the HKS unit which seemed to be more subtle in that regard. A good analogy would be the Xfinity commercial with Usain Bolt(i.e. HKS blower) where you have him on the blocks ready to sprint and right next to him you have his alter ego Insane Bolt (i.e. Rotrex blower). When the gun goes off Bolt takes off, but Insane bolt just passes him. Another thing I notice is that I can hear the Rotrex blower spinning from inside the car...it isn't very loud at all in fact if you had passengers in the car they wouldn't know, but you can hear it unlike the HKS unit. The new intercooler is much larger than the old unit from the Gen 1 HKS kit...so much so that it is very noticable from the grill and front bumper partly because you can see more of it from the lower and upper half of the front bumper. Like I said I haven't had the chance to really open her up, but from the little I did last night this new kit is night and day from the older Gen 1 HKS kit in a good way so much so that I have to learn the car again. Below are: -Dyno of my HKS Gen 1 kit with meth vs my new Rotrex Gen 2 Level 3 with meth -Dyno of Rotrex vs baseline M3 |

Very nice man! I definitely agree with what you wrote - spot on. Let us know your impressions after driving. So far the Gen 2 Level 3 kits have been dynoing VERY consistently at ~580 DynoJet ~530 Mustang.

Do you think you had any wheel slip at that RPM range? I did get some slip on one of my runs and saw a dip then we strapped her down tighter. I liked the burnt rubber smell though

No its the drum actually slowing itself down mid run. I sent you a rpm video of it last week.

^Nice! Glad to see quite a few kits getting out there. Although I don't feel so special anymore
