These are rare photos of the largest joint exercise in the Pacific in many years, the USS Kitty Hawk is the carrier in the center. The other carriers are the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Ronald Reagan.

Heh, can't launch a B-2 off a carrier. It likely flew out there from Whiteman AFB in MO.

A carrier battle group is a fleet of ships supporting a Nimitz or Kitty Hawk class aircraft carrier. It consists of 2 Guided Missile Cruisers for offensive attack, 2-3 Guided Missile Destoyers for fleet defense, a frigate for anti-submarine defense, 2 attack submarines for fleet defense by stealthy attack, and combined ammunition, oiler, supply ships. Other ships may be assigned depending upon the nature of the battle group.

The operation was called Exercise Valiant Shield 2006. Included the 3 carrier battle groups, USN and USMC F-18's, USAF F-16's based out of Misawa AFB Japan, F-15's from Elmendorf AFB Alaska, and B-2's from Whiteman AFB Missouri which were deployed to Anderson Air Force Base Guam.

They are not photoshoped....I've seen the same pics in official publications. These publications were not Reuter's or the AP either.
