D.C. Hotel Connection Anyone?
Hey folks,
Looking to take my wife down to D.C. for a night. It's been a while since I've stayed down there for work. Recommendations on nice place...connections... I can go basically any weekend (Sat. into Sun.). Looking for something really nice! |

Depends on your budget and your idea of fun. The W is a young, fun place to stay, very central a lot of the attractions. There is the Monaco which is in Chinatown, a very fun place...the Palomar in Dupont...
If you want to be a true baller, take her to the Inn at Little Washington. |

I definitely don't mind spending money. Wife and I don't get out as much anymore since our little 17 month old blessed us. Just looking for a nice evening away. The Inn at Little Washington looks nice, but a little far for just an evening get-away. Coming from just northwest of Baltimore. Although, in the M I could shorten the trip. LOL

4 Seasons is a good one, definitely eat at Bourbon Steak (at the hotel). Make sure you get the truffle oil bread, shit is RIDIC.

There's also the Willard, which is nice and full of history. I agree with some other suggestions of Four Seasons, Monaco, and the W.
On a little lower level but still nice is Embassy Suites in DuPont. In DuPont and close to Georgetown. Plus free happy hour and a good free breakfast (omellettes etc).

Stay at Donavon house in dupont circle. Its pretty cool if you like very modern hotels like the clift hotel in san fran or shore club in miami. Nice bar and cool rooms.

The Hay Adams FTW if your looking for a really classy place to go...
Last time I was there you had to pass a background check though since it overlooks the White House.... Also if you need to go anywhere and they'll transport you around in Range Rover Sports http://www.hayadams.com/index.php

Staying at the Four Seasons in Georgetown this Saturday. Arriving around 1pm. Have reservations for the Bourbon Steak that evening at 6pm. Planning out the pre/post dinner things-to-do/see.
Gonna take her down to the C&O Canal, Harbour Shopping Plaza, then further into GT where the shops are. Work up an appetite, then hit dinner. After dinner is up in the air. Open to suggestions for a nice place to grab a few cocktails. |

In no order;
1. Mate (asian down by the water front) has a nice scene for drinks at night - very cool place lots of attractive women. 2. Leopolds (German) has a nice brunch, if you can, try to sneak a peak at L2 which is connected to Leapolds in caddies alley. 3. Peacock and Cafe Milanos are both nice lunch and dinner places. 4 Day&Night drinking at the Waterfront is a lot of fun, if you are lucky some really nice boats will show up. 5. If you like exotic stuff (lebanese), Neyla's has belly dancers on Fridays and Saturdays, very nice place and great food. 6. Mie n Yu is the other exotic place, get drinks from a mixologist, once was an amazing place, is not decent. At minimum, check it out, maybe sit in the bird cage. Don't go to Serendipity, it's overrated. 7. Citronelle is probably the best known place to eat in Georgetown, if you can, try to eat there, pricey, but worth it. 8. If you want Cupcakes, try Baked & Wired, NOT, and I repeat NOT, Georgetown Cupcake. That place is basically for tourists, and it's overrated. 10. The Bars, Bars, there are some traditional bars like Old Glory, Rhino Bar, Mr. Smiths and so on, if you like a good old fashion bar, those places fit the bill. You should make a reservation for pX if you want drinks. Speakeasy style, phenomenal concoctions made by a sommelier. Nothing more fancy, afterwards, stroll around Old Town Alexandria.
If you want to stay around the city, Old Ebbit is a nice place to drink. Don't go to Mate, owners are crooks. Oya is also a decent place to drink.
