Bump. Badfish, do you still have the V3's on your car? Could you please provide a 2 yr update review? No chirping noise like on the 3 series cars?

Way to revive an old thread. No noises at all. I raised the car up in the back about 3/4" and I'm running on some 19's right now.

That's good to know. Thanks a lot man. I'll be going with V3's sometime soon.

Woot, bumping an old thread. I too would like to see the 7-post data from KW, was it ever posted?
One thing the discussion didn't really take into account is that the M3 has VERY little travel stock. I actually think that the effective wheel rate is not going to be only spring, rather a combination of spring and bump stop. I suspect the actual front rate, once you've taken a set is higher than just the spring rate would suggest. (This is based on some skidpad zip tie testing, where the zip tie gets shoved into the bump stop, indicating that it comes into use. Stiffer springs may keep the car off the stops, leading to a smaller increase in wheel rate than you might expect. Anyway, I'm not a suspension engineer, but I have found the tiny amount of travel available on this car makes it a challenge. KW uses a tiny bump stop on the KW to get some travel back, I wonder if the V3 springs are stiff enough over big bumps. Guess I need to beg/borrow/plead my way into a ride or drive with them. |

Can you imagine if a manufacturer sold suspension that would make a car snap oversteer at its limit? On the street, that's just dangerous... Is KW going to post their data at all?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=257963 Edit: After more research, it seems that the aftermarket coilover manufacturers have different spring rate ratios than BMW because they simply tune the car for different purposes, with different suspension frequencies: Here is how to calculate the "natural" suspension frequency at home, with a stopwatch (it's patented, so it must be good - however the shocks must be removed) http://www.smithees-racetech.com.au/...cefactors.html Here is how to calculate other things like spring rates, etc. based on some car measurements (but it's not free, as far as I read): http://www.smithees-racetech.com.au/...worksheet.html
