Powerchip A.K.A. Kick in the ass!

I know there's numerous threads about how wonderful powerchip is, but I figure the more there are the more people will know how great this tune really is.

Coming from an N54 with all the goodies, and considering I've only owned turbo cars since I started driving (I'm young), I didn't know what to expect from a Tune for an NA engine. I obviously knew it wouldn't make such a drastic change like in turbo'd engines. With that said, I shipped it out to California, got it back a couple of days later thanks to Mike's efforts to make this happen quickly.

I plugged the DME back in... awesome, no check engine from my RPi catless X Pipes, so far so good. Took it out for a quick spin with the power button off. The first thing I felt was how much smoother the car picks up from 1k all the way to redline. I drove it around the streets a few minutes to get a feel for it before taking it to the highway. Buttery smooth. Then I decided to get on the highway, all this with the power button off just to test things out.

Powerchip claims that this tune makes the the throttle bodies open 100%, considering they don't from factory. You can really feel it with this tune, you can feel the engine much more alive throughout the whole rev-band.

I got on the highway and punched it in second gear... holy hell the rpm's climb ridiculously fast now, shift it to third and the car broke traction like never before. That's pretty much it for my first experience. I never tried it with the power button on.

So yesterday night, empty highway, on my way back home from a dinner with my girl, I decide to punch it from 3rd gear on, with the power button on. The only explanation for what you feel, is joy. Pure, 100% joy. There's no words for the rest of the drive home, just a huge ass smile on my face. The more time I give the ecu to adapt the bigger the smile on my face.

I now drive with the power button off, since it feels so responsive. Anytime you floor this car now (from any RPM) you get a HUGE kick in the ass. I can only imagine that this tune coupled with the rest of the axle back which I'll soon get and some pulleys.... well..... i can only imagine.......

Stage 2. I have the RPi X Pipe Version 2, which has resonators where the stock primary cats were. Personally, I'm extremely happy with them, so I would tell you to go that route. I don't have a video of the car, but without an axle back exhaust the sound is simply.... horrible.

with my tune what I felt the most over everything else was how much harder it pulls in 3rd. take off was smoother too, it always felt lazy unless I really tried hard but with the tune it always wants to go go go!.

RPI X pipe version 2 !!?
i saw only 1 X pipe in the RPI web site, and it doesn't have any resonators !!
well i already have the Vorsteiner exhaust and it's only till the mid section so i want to complete the whole system with a straight pipe or X pipe.

The pic on their site is old I believe. They changed to version 2 in November last year. It's essentially the same thing with resonators where the primary cats were.

Where did you order from? Powerchipgroup.com came up with this:
Quote:
In standard form, the M3 4.0 V8 produces 555 hp and 213 lb.-ft.
Don't think I would want to order from them
