Buffing compound?

Whats a good compound for getting out light swirl marks, preferably by hand?

Any quality compound/polish will remove light swirl marks but your going to wear yourself out doing a car by hand.

I am in the valley and do side work. Let me know what you decide.

Any real polish/compound is only going to work best with a rotary or D/A buffer...

compounds/polish you work by hand generally have fillers that just hide imperfections.

I would like to meet and see the cars condition and evaluate your wants and needs from the car. What color is it BTW?

For the Vette it was 600 for a show car shine. You may not want all that but if you do its fine. I can work to your goals.

Even if you get a detail from someone, I think it's a good idea to get an orbital buffer. Nice to have and can apply some wax in no time. Harbor freight even has one at a low price...a good option if you're rarely going to use it.

And for a medium compound, I like Meguiars Ultimate compound. Nice and cheap, like $9, and available at the likes of target. It replaced Mezerna SIP for me, but not a good choice for a one step.

Really? Replaced Menzerna? Not bashing but would like to hear more. I have been using UC but moved on to the Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover which is made by Menzerna and is closely related to SIP. I feel I get better work-ability and easier wipe off compared to UC.

What mahine and pads are you using with it? Im on a Flex 3401 with Lake country hybrid pads in 5in diameter.

I agree. I love working with Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0. Less dust compared to Meguiar's, easy to remove and plenty of working time.

I use a porter cable with LC orange pads 5.5inch for UC.

I like UC as meguiars has that "smat" technology so you don't have to break down the product. So less passes in certain cases with similar results compared to SIP. In the end, it just saves time.

I follow either one up with Menzerna's super finish.

Nothing wrong with that. Just wanted to hear you views on your product. Find something you love to use and use it often.

When I use up my Wolfgang twins I will be switching to their identical cousins, IS1500 and SF4000. In the mean time I have the new FG400 and SF4500 coming in to try out. I hear good things about SF4500 for soft black paint.

Zymol Concours on Fire Orange.....

Happy with the look & ease of application, but not longevity + expensive (smells good though).

Alternative experience in quality carnauba paste?

Thanks!
