Album artwork display

Can the album artwork from an iphone be displayed on the screen via bluetooth or do you need a cable for this feature to work? I have a 2011 X3 with bluetooth audio extension.

You need the cable to show the album cover.

With Bluetooth you have controls of next/previous and it will show some track info.
