Thumbs up Autoweek: E92 M3 versus Audi RS5 Roadtest [video]

One of the hottest comparisons between two of the hottest sports coupes available is on again, as Autoweek pits the E92 M3 versus the Audi RS5. Result? Let's just say the boys at Autoweek call the M3's spirit "unbeatable" English subtitled video review inside.

At the very least, the video review provides some great M3 vs. RS5 eye candy.

According to C&D, the RS5 has numb steering and still snowplows quite a bit. The RS5 placed 3rd, the new CTS-V 2nd, M3 ZCP first.

RS5 have to be some kind of like failure. When M3 came out 2007, nearly all journos claimed car "fair" and "uninvolving" ect. Good, but not excellent and absolutely not the best in it's class. RS4 washed out M3 in several reports. Now, M3 is unbeatable from test to test. ZCP doesn't make so much difference. What's happened?

So, don't expect much from early F30 reports...

Here is to hoping that BMW doesn't do ANYTHING to mess up perfect balance on the next M3 in 2013.

Oh, is that color Jerez Black on that M3???

for americans - note the price of the car in the end.

The M3 seems like a fine wine. Comes with age. I really believe Audi is losing the plot slowly and slipping back. Merc and BMW are back at it. But Audi built up a nice brand following during last 10 years, now time to step aside.

the Messerschmidt sound is cool though, wonder if it can be replicated through exhaust tune on the M3..

they dont get it?
After 30 years of leadership they should stop challenging the king!

Plus; "that" auto maker sells most of their cars with front wheel drive.
End of conversation.

i'm just getting more and more impress with the m3. is it just me or the m3 seems to look better and sound better than the rs5?

it is more purposeful looking than the wing or big front air mouth on the rs5. kinda understated but then they have the hood pop up to let you know it means business. the hood is growing on me.

just to be fair though, is the rs5 dimension larger than the m3? wait...it has less rear leg room, so dimension shouldn't be an excuse. but i still want to know out of curiosity.

I would think they would compare the M6 with the Rs5... Oh well, still love to see the M3 whoop up on that a** haha, Audi is making some good cars, but still, lack emotion, passion and feeling. My wife has the A4... not a fan. Good looking car, but night and day compared to the 335.

Good Question.
I think because of all of the anticipation, hype and delays surrounding the M3 when it first came out, everyone had a different image of what it should've been. Everyone wanted the lightweight, edgy e46 successor with 6 piston brakes that was more e30 than anything seen since. BUT BMW got what they wanted. 2 cars in one. Everyday smooth commuter with a trunk and a high revving BEAST that has a chassis that is better than the engine. They made a perfectly balanced everything car and no one got that in 2007-2008. Everyone is getting it now!

I am thinking that the M3 looks far more aggressive and spirited than any other cars in it's class. Personally, I have been happy with the M3. I have absolutely no regrets even after dealing with the "lag" in my 2008.

BMW fan forever!
