It's reasonable to expect the next gen M3/4 will be more capable than the current gen. It's what product evolution is all about. With that being said I can't wait for M3/4 release so real comparisons and tests will be conducted.

The next M3/M4 will simply be better, faster, more expensive, and for the first time, lighter....so either you have the money to play or hang onto your V8 since it's still better than 99% of the cars out there.

Hard to beat a car that is 10% lighter, has 10% more horsepower and has 25% more torque. My question is more how to help my E90M3 keep up -- probably need a supercharger for that.

I expect the E9x M3 to be better in throttle response, steering feel, and sound with the F8x M3/M4 better all else.

Agreed, plus BMW has yet to prove to me that their turbo motors are really exciting to drive. Nothing Ive driven with a turbo motor from BMW excited me. The m5/m6 just don't do it for me at all, and if the m3/m4 become smaller versions of those, then I can't see myself driving a car like that, especially seeing some of the other cars coming out.

If the new one sounds like the E46 M3, then agree completely. However, if it sounds like the more traditional sonorous snarl from decades of BMW straight sixes, then to my ears, it'll be neck and neck with the current V8.

Granted most of my turbo engine driving experience is with 911 turbos which simply are unfair to compare to but bmw still has yet to prove to me their turbo engines are exciting to drive. For me, the panamera gts is simply the best driving and most scalpel like sedan out there bar none. It may not be as fast as a few others but is much better to drive without question and sounds infinitely better. |

traditional sonorous snarl from decades of BMW straight sixes will be exactly even to your ears to the current V8? Really? |
