I've never seen it in WDS or TIS either. I have it in a different document. It's in BMW's application for OBD-II certification document. BMW will not allow it to be posted here and I'm not sure it's legal to pass it around, so I'm going to err on the side of caution and hope you can find it based on the description I gave you.
I could probably help you with individual pins if necessary; probably not going to dump the entire thing here. I've worked on the pinout myself with an upcoming project. The pins I needed were all correct according to the document I mentioned. Curious why you need it? Last edited by regular guy; 07-03-2013 at 09:45 PM.. Reason: Fix typo, add'l info |

I have it. What do you need to know (and for my curiosity), why?

I already have a stand alone ECU that I can pay to get the wiring harness modified to get it to work (they have done others). Looking at other solutions. Sorry I asked. Tough crowd here.

I think we're trying to help, but stuck because it may not be legal to pass out that document. I'm not going to risk it, so I'm trying to help by telling you where to find it. Also trying to help by telling you who else might have it.
Motec, Pectel, Siemens/Bosch stand-alones already have the wiring info. Another "future" ECU is working on it now and will have a solution soon. Which ECU are you trying to use? On top of the wiring, you'll need to capture the crank and cam timing patterns. |

Stock ECU. I can't do the flashing of the ECU that is required. Just trying to figure out the connections to rest if the car. Just trying to get a handle on it when I have a few days off before going on vacation. I'll get the information eventually. Not sure I understand the legal issues- it's just a list of what things connect to.

Tough crowd? I simply asked why with full intent on helping you and then you messaged me
"Why else would somebody want it? Motor swap. Bruce" You get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

Its incredible how much information is kept secret for the sake of ego, selfishness, profit, etc, etc...
I will have the info for you Monday. Legal issue? For the pin out of a vehicle that you own? Roll Eyes + Facepalm gobuffs happens to be a reputable BMWCCA member and Racer who toils with ///M swaps and thanks to him a lot of happy BMW racers were able to enjoy the new F1 track in Austin last month. When you ask me for a tissue, I'll hand you one, without asking why u need it, ya? |

As best I can tell (from my own work), here's the layout of the connectors. Small connector: Harness #1 = 26 pin Harness #2 = 26 pin Harness #3 = 6 pin Large connector: Harness #4 = 6 pin Harness #5 = 44 pin Harness #6 = 12 pin Harness #7 = 26 pin Do you know which one you need? |

You're correct. And the 6 pin on the small connector is what contains power and ground.
Most of the sensor inputs are on the second larger connector.

No one is suggesting you publish this on any forum. You can PM and/or email the information without providing a copy of the document. Since the vehicle is in your possession and you own it...and it has the harness in question connected to the DME in question....and you can actually pull the DME and find out the pinouts by toning and/or continuity testing.... It would be extremely hard to prosecute someone for passing on this information. As long as your not sending or publishing copies of the actual "confidential" document. |

Do you know the pinouts for cyl 2 and 3 coils? I'm having misfire and limp mode and changing plugs and coiks didnt change. It has to be wiring. Also can you just replace that passenger coil pack leg? Thanks.
