I'll have to meet up with you guys (at the hotel) on Saturday night if we do the 22nd. I'll be at work until about 2pm that day.

Does that work? I'll make this final when I get back to the states on Tuesday.
A honeymoon with a new wife over monitoring an internet thread...what kind of nonsense is this?

Congrats on the marriage and I hope you enjoyed Jamaica. The wife and I had our honeymoon there too and it was a blast!

Anyway, 22-23 sounds good. When will most of the driving take place? We have a birthday to attend on the 23rd, but hopefully can get some fun in on the 22nd.

Looking forward to the details. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

I dunno all this confusion makes me want to do a day thing as opposed to the whole weekend (cheaper too). I don't know about you guys, but I really enjoyed the Skyline run we did on sept 11, 2010. Where we met at ~10am and drove till about 5pm with the lunch break in between. Thoughts?

Yeah I keep going back and forth in my mind. Somedays I'm motivated for a two day event, them others I'm like man, that's gonna be my whole weekend and I want to kick back and relax. Lol.

Well it wont be your whole weekend. If we leave the hotel at 10am on Sunday, the last part of the drive is about 2 hours back to I81 and then on to home which could mean you're back home in time for the game, depending on where you live.

The whole point of this drive is to get to some of the best roads in the US, which exist in WV. Yeah it's a long drive and a good part of a weekend but it's bound to be a great time and I'm not planning to do this every year. Common guys, we bought these cars for a reason.

OK, so the Marriott probably has better rooms but the Quality Inn has a bar (http://www.qualityinn.com/hotel-lewi...?promo=gglocal). Both are right next to a Ruby Tuesdays. There's also an Irish Pub downtown but there's limited street parking and I can't say anything about the quality.

The Quality Inn, Marriott and Hampton are all right next to each other so really people could stay at whichever they choose and gather at one for the beers.

I'd favor the Marriott, but that's just me. Of course we can meet wherever.

Was the plan to block rooms or just book on our own? Once it's a sure thing I'll go ahead and book.

Thanks for putting this together.

Darkstar-we need confirmation:

1) That we're a go for October 22-23
2) When can we proceed to book the rooms and if so-what location in WV?

Thanks!

The dates of 22-23 are confirmed. I just haven't had any time to get on here because work is so busy I can't even check my E-mail and when I'm home I'm busy moving the wife's stuff in... So 22-23, the hotel location is Lewisburg, WV. There's a group of hotels on Coleman Drive, so that's where you want to get your room - at whichever hotel you prefer. The Quality Inn is the only one with a bar but they're also all across the street from a ruby tuesdays which also has a bar. It's no Reston, but it'll do.

Awesome! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

All booked and ready to go, but I opted for the Fairfield in after a few bad experiences with Quality Inns. Like DarkStar said, Lewisburg is no Reston, but if we are there for fancy hotels we probably should reconsider

Darkstar-I've booked a room at the Quality Inn in Lewisburg. Please update us with the time and place of our first meet on Saturday and a detailed itinery. My wife suggested we stop by some places that are quite scenic to take pics of the foliage or other important landmarks if possible. This should serve as a good break in between our spirited driving

I have the route almost completely planed out and was going to post soon. Can you send me the locations your wife knows of so I can see if they'll fit in with the route plan and make the necessary modifications? Thanks man.

I'm too tired to post anything big but the route plan is complete including the meeting location, time, and all the stops. You only need to go into google street view at any point of the route to get an idea of how awesome these roads are.

The main lunch place on Saturday will be the National Radio Astronomy Obervatory. I'm not planning on doing a big group tour, though if you want to, do it, it takes less than an hour and is only $3! Food there will be normal cafe stuff, hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches.

The main lunch place on Sunday, which will also mark the end of the Run, will be in down town Staunton. Lots of really good hole-in-the-wall places to eat so just pick whichever looks best to you.

Route plan:

Darkstar - we met up yesterday at Great Falls (Z4M Coupe). I really wanted to do this, but the wife reminded me that I have other obligations next weekend. Any other runs this fall?
