That's why you put down as little as possible on a car or anything else for that matter. As far as the car goes, bite the bullet and push for a total loss. That car will never be the same IMHO.

Hey guys, things are looking like my car is actually going to be totalled... I dont know for sure yet but the bill is already at 40k and that is without taking it apart. If it reaches 45k then they will probably just total it. The good news is that if they do then I am going to do European Delivery to try and keep my payment down as well as to get an almost free trip out of it. If they dont total it, then I am going to throw that Dinan engine in it.

So, now that I might have a chance to do it all over again, I am thinking if there is anything I would change. Part of me is considering the DCT option but part of me loves the 6mt and feels like I would get tired of the DCT. What do you guys think?

So what ended up happening is the insurance company told BMW that they needed to prove that my current engine was bad before they paid for the Dinan Engine. Well, BMW could not prove there was anything wrong with my current engine so they replaced everything else. The bill with everything including my new VRS GTS3 bumper was about 8500. So, I have the car back now and it is running like a champ!

I do wish I had that Dinan engine though. Although, I am actually happy the car didnt end up a total loss.

Here is a pict for you guys....

So the insurance company will have your car which they can sell for parts and likely get a pretty penny. Sounds like crap to me.. Get it fixed and save the hassle.
