Damn it took 20mins for the cops to catch up?

Yea that guy would have been long gone if they didnt catch them.

Good for them.

I say they should get an award. No one should bitch about them doing what they did. Looking at the vid its not like they flew by an elementary school in a residential at 120mph when school let out. If they didn't chase the guy probably would have gotten away and probably raped someone else or put some ones family member in a cage for 20 years or something like Jaycee dugard.

Please stop dispensing legally incorrect and potentially dangerous information. You can only justify use of deadly force in self defense under the law if there is an imminent danger to your safety or the safety of people around you. If someone breaks into your apartment and runs away with your property, you can NOT use deadly force unless your life is threatened directly. You could probably tackle the guy or something, but to bludgeon him with a frying pan or stab him with a kitchen knife would land you in serious legal trouble...

Check the laws on self defense in your country/state, don't just take my advice for it.

It's typical that they would point out the only negative portion of the story. These guys caught a scumbag and are getting crap for going 170km/h in a Turbo.

It's not like they were doing 170 in a Tercel.

honestly, it was awesome that they helped this girl out and were able to stop the criminal from getting away... but the cop brought up a good point, if something went wrong and others who were not involved in this situation were injured then i would have different feelings about it.

i would never involve myself in any situation like that, unless it has to do with me or someone very close to me like a family member or a dear friend, cause you gotta realize something... the guy isnt driving fast just to test out his car's performance, hes trying to get away from the cops which means a lot of very dangerous decisions are going to be made that could potentially lead to a serious accident, why include yourself?

The fact that they are thinking of pressing charges against the driver shows how disgusting these people are.

They deserve an award or compensation of some sort

and 170km (105 mph ) is nothing

I thought it said specifically in the video that they wouldn't be charged. Maybe I missed an update elsewhere in the thread.

And the dirtbag/rapist douchebag who sped off is lucky he didn't get a good beatdown when it all ended. Hockey players (even their little brothers) can be like that

From a legal perspective the guys in the Porsche would have been held liable for any damage they caused but I still think they did the right thing. Its possible they could have got out of liability by using an "emergency situation" defense. But that would only happen if they were charged an found liable. I think in most cases the cops (canadian anyaway) would let it go.

The cop was also right though, the 911 operator should have said you've done enough by getting a description and license plate and either brake off or hang back so much that he doesn't think you are chasing him anymore.

Its good nobody else got caught up in the mess.

Porshe 911's Have rear seat cushions but they're extremly uncomfortable. Only the GT series 911's Do not have a rear seat cushion.

Exclamation

Hmm. Seems like a policy error, there aren't any official procedures regarding this kind of "good samaritan" action.

I agree with the police chief, all in all, it ended up good, but if a few people would've been smeared on the street, it might have been a lot different.

I wouldn't condone this sort of behavior. Sure you caught a sexual assaulter but at what cost? I'd much rather let someone like that get away then to kill an innocent bystander who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. They're just lucky no one was injured, had they injured or killed somebody, the headlines would have said "crazed sports car driver kills innocent driver while chasing after a car" or something like that. Girl was safe, no immediate threat, they should have just taken her to a hospital and let the police find the guy through description of vehicle or description.

News is ridiculous these days.... "They reached speeds of up to 170km/h".... wow big deal, especially for a 911 Turbo. They make it seem so dangerous as if it's a criminal offense

I rememeber reading when it happened. It got a lot of news coverage and even autoblog had a article about it. What those guys did was the right thing to do. And lets just say some bystandered did get hit, it would have been from the rapist's car. I doubt someone would be stupid enough to see one car driving really fast and decide to keep on walking foward so that the next fast car behind it hits them.
