Some trouble with hardtop malfunction e93
Ive never had any problems with my hardtop but recently I've been getting "hardtop malfunction" "hardtop not locked" errors on the nav screen where the top "doesnt lock" when it goes down all the way. When it goes up its totally fine. it happens once a day but works correctly after trying it a few times.
I took it to the dealer and they told me they cant replicate the problem so they didnt do anything about it. When I inspected the top it looked like it was perfectly locked, but the screen keeps making this ding ding ding noise its just annoying. I wonder if its just a computer error and one of the sensors is fucked up. Maybe I can have the noise coded out or something? What can I do about this guys. Its not really a problem since it works after a few times but if it gets worse I dont want to shell out 15k for a new top. And no theres nothing in the trunk blocking the trunk partition |

Are you on a flat level surface when putting the top down?

Give the trunk a good open and SHUT.
Have the connection points ever been lubed? No idea, really.. just throwing shit out there. lol And if you do choose to lube, your regular motor oil is fine. |

Can you give any tips on how to do this ? I mean some of the joints are obvious but i wondered if there was a manual that showed which joints to apply lubricant to and which lubricant to use ?
What other issues are people having ? I just bought my E93 M3 and I found that the rear pillar has some wear from the fabric collapsing and stretching. I wonder if the dealer with replace it under warranty. jeff |

Where did you have it done? Also, are you able to operate the windows while the car thinks the cycle hasn't finished? I'm 99% confident this is a sensor/software issue rather than mechanical, so I'm fine with a fix like this, but I'm just not sure where to go from here. I know I don't want a summer full of dings! Thanks for the info btw.
