Dead link by the way.
Autobild tested and got different results. M3 E92 6MT | M3 E92 DKG 0-100kph: 4.8s | 4.6s 0-200kph: 16.3s | 15.2s 80-120(6th): 7.6s | 6.3s fuel cons.: 13.8l | 13.0l lap time: 1:35.41 | 1:35.11 We are going to need more time for this one. |

I believe the real advantage with the DCT is getting that 0-60 everytime, consistant. Unlike the manual which I am sure they had to give it a few runs to achieve it.

Thanks for the article.
I'm wondering if DCT of the test car is just getting trashed by the writers using launch control over and over, and so tests out slower. In this current Car & Driver issue where they test the Corvette, Porsche GT2, Viper, and the Nissan GT-R, the GT-R tested out really slow. The car has probably been beaten to death by the testers. 0-60 was like 4.1 and the quarter mile time was 12.6 @ 111, and the 0-150 time was 26.6....slower than the M3. The car has been trashed. I'm betting a new, well broken-in M3 with DCT will test out faster, if nothing else, by the gearing of the 7-speed, which has closer gear ratios. I'm learning never to trust car magazines...they really abuse cars. |

There is no reason for the 6MT to pick up speed on the upper speeds unless it was had more power. I have no doubt the DCT will be quicker once we have more data. MT magazine test shows the DCT 0-60 in 4.1s and 0-100 in 9.7s not the quickest M3 ever but close to it. The 6MT is not helping make the car quicker from 113 to 150 it's only power at this point and no way in hell is the 6MT quicker in the gear-shift or time has less off power time. It's possible the 6MT is quicker from a launch but once the gears start changing 1-2-3-4-5 etc the DCT would pick up ground if the engines were equal |

without looking to the article, i can make some doubts about their testing :
M3 E92 6MT | M3 E92 DKG 0-100kph: 4.8s | 4.6s 0-200kph: 16.3s | 15.2s 80-120(6th): 7.6s | 6.3s fuel cons.: 13.8l | 13.0l lap time: 1:35.41 | 1:35.11 13,8 .... is it a joke ? i have done 12'000 Km, and my average on the whole distance is over 16L ... so a test on track, and 13,8 average ... bullshit ! |

I think on a road course, the DCT will be more consistantly faster lap after lap. Especially when driven by non-professional drivers.
In the end though it's going to come down to the ability of the drivers.

Exactly. And with my limited ability I can guarantee you DCT is faster - significantly.

since both cars have "clutches" so there is no pumping losses associated with torque convertors....then the performance of both cars is directly related to the launch and the gearing.....since the DCT has 1 more gear and launch control, it should have a slight edge...even though its about 40lbs heavier than 6MT....
