Dinan Throttle Bodies
Has anybody have these? How did you like them? I have already pulley,tune,intake,cat-back and xpipe. Looking for a little more. Dealer says 8 hours labor, I would think you could do it yourself. Is it worth the money or is 3.45 final drive a better thing to do?

I would do the gears personally... Cant imagine TB's making THAT much difference. Just my opinion though.

This is just one dealer, but he tells me every time they do the throttle body upgrade they have more trouble than gains. Now this is with older models but for what little gain you may get, is it worth the risk. Has anyone done these with success?

The gears are awesome, do it. For city driving that extra tq is awesome and at the track love it for the extra power coming out of corners. For 1/4 mile and drag racing applications may not be that great, but that's not necessarily why this car was built. 3.45>throttle bodies. This engine rocks, don't F with it.

Thanks for the feedback. I dont autox the car. If the added RPM from the 3.45 will mess me up on 1/4 or street runs then i would not like it. From what i understand the car will start to short shift with the gears. Essentially messing up any gains you though you might see. I would have thought opening up the intake tract more along with a more free flow exhaust might have saw some gains.

With your mods I have a hard time seeing the throttle bodies make power. PG'a stroker barely made any power with them and a larger motor should flow more air. Maybe if you went forced induction...
The gears if you can get them to work with DCT will make a huge difference. |

I had them in my E46 M3. Not noticeable gains, but it made throttle response very crisp. I also had cams and a lot of other mods on my old M3 that all worked well together.

TB's are a big waste of money.
There is more than enough flow from the OEM TB's. Like was mentioned above, PG never made any noticeable gain on the dyno from the Dinan TB's. Also the larger TB's are not going to increase throttle response, on the contrary, a larger diameter TB is going to slow down airflow at lower engine speeds. Any increased throttle response is most likely a psychological increase at best. |
