On-Track Safety: Always Have a Plan (and a backup plan)!

For those of you who caught the Sebring 150 with IMSA/CTSC on the live streaming feed or on the TV broadcast, you probably heard mention of the action we had leading up to our incredible race finish. Aside from needing to start the race at the back of the pack because of replacing our engine in the #84 car the night before the race (and after managing to qualify on pole), we also had an interesting finish to our test day in that same car...

An engine fire put a very quick end to our testing session, but because of proper planning and preparation, plus solid safety equipment, our driver (James Clay) was level-headed and able to quickly piece together a backup plan that got our car safely back to our pit stall so we could continue our weekend.

Read about the hot adventures and watch the in-car video at the link below:

Glad it worked out for you guys and no one was hurt.

I remember the first time I practiced getting out of my race car with a HANs device on. I hooked it on the window net clip and was stuck. If it had been for real, I'd have had a big problem. Since it was a practice escape, I was able to just sit back down and try again. With a full blast of adrenaline, I'm not sure what would have happened.

+1 glad everyone's uncooked

HANS is a pretty crappy solution for closed cockpit cars IMO. I don't mind it for cars you can just stand up and step out of but I hated the Hans inside a closed car.
