Tax on Gas Guzzlers
The Canadian government unveiled their new budget last night. Included in the items is a tax on gas guzzlers of up to $4,000 at the point of sale (for Hummers, GMC Envoy, Toyota Sequoia, etc), and a tax rebate of up to $2,000 for fuel efficient cars (Toyota Prius, Honda civic hybrid, etc).
Cars in between get either a tax or a rebate between those two numbers based on some sort of government scaling system. Clearly, it's meant to influence car buyers into more fuel efficient vehicles. What do y'all think?

We already have that in the US, doesn't appear to have stopped anyone. That one actually effects SUVs though which might help more than the one here.

i like that idea, it will piss some people off, but its not a bad way to start thinking of our environment!
