wheel mess..

happens everytime i drive off after a car wash. it also splatters on the side of my car. does anybody have a solution to prevent this? drying method?

Right after the car wash (I am assuming you take your car to automatic car wash or to one of those DIY places) apply your brakes very gently and let the car roll for a bit.....

This will clear out your rotors and dry out your pads and minimize that mess.....

If you wash your own car, use a leaf blower on your wheels as part of your drying process and this wont happen.....

I always wash my own car. But never used a leaf blower to dry my wheels. Will give that a shot next time. Thanks!

The leaf blower will not work if the brake rotors are wet since they will just dry it faster...rusty. Do what TTG said and you will be good.

That doesn't look very normal... are you sure you don't have some kind of fluid leak or something?

it's perfectly normal. spray some water on the rotors and watch what happens in a matter of seconds.

Those are just rust particles. Next time roll out slowly to clear the pads before driving off.

Oh well, guess I never noticed on my gunmetal wheels.

Yeah, it may be more difficult to see on gunmetals, but definitely noticeable on black/silvers. But it depends on a variety of factors too such as the amount already built up and how much water droplets are still on the wheel

I wash my car consistently and have never had to resort to applying the brakes in between washing and drying

Before using a leaf blower my wheels looked EXACTLY like yours OP

After using a leaf blower, they are clean as can be

That's the rust from the rotors after water has hit them. Really annoying especially after the hard work I put into cleaning the rims. So do the particles actually fly off right after you hit the brakes a little and then use the leaf blower?
