In my opinion - if they want sticker for the car they can keep it!

Oh and manual transmission of course..
When you talk about a car holding value, there are things about such a car that are much more important than color. How much of it is still in original condition and not modded is one. Mileage is another. How well it's been maintained is another. Color, it seems to me, is close to last on the list when predicting whether a car will hold it's value. I'm talking about holding on to a car past 10 years.
What would have elevated this car to an instant (and very valuable) collectors item is if BMW would have numbered the cars 1 of 200, 2 of 200 and so on, based on when they came off the production line. In fact, BMW could still do that because the vin number contains a series of numbers which tells them when that car came off the line. Someday, some intrepid Limerock owner might be able to pry the information out of them.
As I've said, value will return after you've spent a lot of time with your prize. In order for you to successfully cross this time period with your car, it's crucial that you enjoy every aspect of it including driving it at every opportunity. If you cannot see it as your daily driver, then you might want to ask yourself whether or not you are going to make it to the value stage.
Oh, and the manual on a coupe is an absolute plus.

Guys I appreciate the feedback, constructive and non-constructive. When I asked about retained value I meant compared to another normal M3. Just wondering what thoughts were. Will it lose 50% in three years where a normal M3 might lose 40%? Not that is matters much, but curious as to others thoughts. Not likley I will keep this thing for ever so resale matters to me.
Maybe I phrased this wrong but when asking what others thought of getting pricing on par with other M3's it was to solicit feedback as to maybe what others have been paying or willing to pay since not many have sold and most dealers are asking for premiums.
Just looking for opinons, which I recieved. I like the car and the color so it will ultimatley boil down to my own opinion if I pull the trigger.
This is a forum. Inspiring debate is its purpose.

Its worth it. You get all the mods, and paint from BMW. This will hold its value. seeing and riding this car in person i say its worth the few extra. The exhaust alone is worth it!

I couldn't imagine paying over $20k more for essentially the same car. We're in 1 year old 911 territory. The LRP will hold it's value slightly better than a standard M3. I guess that's some consolation.

Most people that are on here with there m3s have bought them and added exhaust am other partisans I am sure have the same amount of money and more I. There cars.
If you add the performance exhaust. Splitters. Wing. Then you would be at about the same plus the special paint color.
Buy the car cause you light the options not because it says lime rock.
It's not over priced unless the dealer has a market adjustment as I posted in another thread.
This forum has a small number of m3 owners in it. Most m3 owners walk into the dealer like any other at and buy it for a small discount off Msrp if any. Obviously having one of a 200 made car will hold more value them the non limited built car. Just maybe not to the haters on here. Just don't sell it on this forum.

If you only intend to keep the car for, say, 5 years or so, and, if the price of the car at that point is, as you say, important to you, then you need to look at another color- like white (or black) and get the dct.
Picture 2 m3's on a dealers lot 5 years from now, both identically equiped and in the same condition. One is white the other is a Limerock and ask yourself which is likely to be sold first? That's the one that will be worth more - and it is very likely going to be the white one. Why? Because there is a broader range of customers who like white (think women) and the Limerock title will not mean much at that point. How much more is the white one worth? That's going to depend on how long the dealer (or you) are willing to wait for a customer for the orange color.
Liquidity in a car is important to a dealer because turnover is $$$$ and color has a lot to do with that. If it's important to a dealer, then it's relevant to your question. If, for example, you are going to trade it in, the first thing out of the mouth of the CA is "I can't give you a lot for that car because orange is a hard sell."
If it's going to be important for you to sell your car quickly, then you best choose a quick sell color. To learn more about which colors are best sellers, go to cars.com and select all 2013 M3s and look at the color distribution.

It depends on how the dealership spec'd it. I have seen some advertised with DCT. I think BMW of Bridgeport has one with DCT now.

Having seen the LRP in person, I won't have a problem having it as a DD. The only downside is not being to claim "It wasn't me."

New to M3s.

Limerock w/stick v DCT?

Have been quoted MSRP -$500 for the stick. MSRP on DCT (different dealers). I know the auto shifts great, but looking into your crystal balls - popularity down the road for resale?

Thanks!
