Well this isn't like a standard lease



He basically paid the full lease up front to save on interest.

For example, instead of paying his 879/month for 3 years, he paid it all at once. probably saved $10 or so per month (honestly I don't know as i don't know his residual, mf, or interest deal with the dealer. could be less, could be more)

This deal is more like a "pay me $25k and borrow this m3 for 30 months"

A lease is great because it has minimal upfront costs...paying it all at the beginning defeats the purpose of a lease...
But to each his own. I'm sure it worked out better for him (actually, prly not cause now he needs cash for the downpayment...if he had a monthly payment if 879/month, he would have the cash and he could prly keep the m3 and have the cash for the downpayment)

Anyways, with this deal, if you don't want to pay 25k upfront, you can go get a regular auto loan from BofA or whoever for 25k, give that 25k to BMW FS, then drive the M3 while paying 25k divided by 30 months multiplied by your interest blah blah blah. it's late so i don't feel like doing math and i have to wake up in 4 hours for the track but i'm sure you get what i mean

The way to know if this is a good deal is:

Build a car just like the one he has and see what the dealer offers you for a lease payment with minimal drive off (which is what you'd want for a lease)

if it's say $2k drive off, 950 a month, then his deal is better

but if it's 2k drive off, 850 a month, then no, his deal is not better

(remember that when you get it new, you get it NEW. getting his car is still getting a USED car, even if it's a lease). and that new one would prly be a 2012 vs a 2011

I made those payments up btw, so don't expect them to be 'right'

I was just trying to make it simple and easy to understand.

I've done ~130 once or twice, but always on a road where I am the only person. Going that fast on the freeway (with traffic) is something I wouldn't do. Too much risk involved.

In my dreams, I did 186 (speedo, so prly around 175?) on the 5 on the way to Button Willow.

I hit 137 on the straight at Big Willow no problem.

I'm usually between 115 to 120ish during turn 8 at Big Willow...

M3 is so stable at high speeds

All of these are in my dreams though

130 was prolly what I avg. on my way to MFest with LTBMW's S/C E36, we got there pretty darn quick But yes TOO much risk involved especially here in So.Cal. In Korea it's a different story

In Korea, we dont have such thing as highway patrol. Only thing we should be worried is the speed camera located every 1-3 miles but at night what we do is just covered up the license plate with tape and you are good to go. Especially with imported cars, its near impossible for them to track down. I went to car meet once while I was in Korea, and what we do at the meet is take the car near Inchone Airport where road is just sooooo nice and test our cars to the limit people bring out some serious cars too. Ferrari Scud. Buggati, Carrera GT, Pagani Zonda to name a few. Its amazing to see those cars fly on a freeway.

My brother is going to Korea next month and leaving his car with me. I will bring it to the meet

You will kill. I pulled at least 2 cars on my brother. But then he is stock and I am FBO + Meth + slightly modded Turbos I don't want him to get tune.

Korea is badass cuz
