Question about the annual service and coding

My May/June 2012 build M3 is going in for it's annual service next weekend. It should have just passed 6k miles when I take it in.

It's been re-coded for Euro MDM and the usual convenience tweaks (mirror folding on lock, etc.). Will any of this be affected if they update the software?

Also, how long does it typically take? They currently have me scheduled without a courtesy car - should I request one?

Are you paying for the software to be updated? If not, they will likely not do any updates for you unless there is an issue with the car. But, in the event that your software is updated then you will need to have things recoded. Updating the entire car will take several hours likely depending on your current integration levels.
