3M Clear bra question

I am investing in a clear bra for my new M3 that will be here in a few weeks. I contacted a local installer and he said that 3M does not make a sheet big enough to cover the entire hood, is this true? I thought I have seen others that have the entire hood done. I really do not want the line halfway up my hood. Any help would be appreciated.

probably what they were referring to is that there is no precut pattern for the entire hood offered by 3M. their patterns are usually 1/3 the size of the hood. but there is absolutely no reason you can't get one custom made by someone. and might i suggest another product besides 3M's - like XPEL. I had both - and preferred XPEL.

I have it 1/3 way up (it was pre-cut). I'm sure you can find someone who'd be happy to offer doing your entire hood.

I think that your installer may be correct, I had a long discussion about this when I had mine installed. There is no single sheet made by 3M that will fit the whole hood. There are other manufactures that do. I think with the 3M you can do the whole hood, but it has to be in 2 pieces.

Go with Ventureshield. One sheet = entire hood.

full hood or nothing, its looks terrible when you can see the line half
way up the hood IMO.

I just got a quote from my local Ventureshield guy and he charges $1595 for the entire frontend including mirrors, hood, front fenders, bumper and headlights. Is this a good deal?

I tried to get Ventureshield in my area but wasn't available. Went with 3M. Yes, I would have liked the full hood. My price was $950 installed. They came to my local dealer to install. Price included partial Hood, full front bumper and front fascia, headlamps, rocker panels, rear panels and mirror caps. Hope this helps.

I paid roughly the same for Ventureshield and got the same package. Did you go with Cliff?

For those that have done the entire hood, fender, etc... is it noticable? One thing that bothered me in a friend's M is you can see that the parts with the shield look a little more dull and not quite as crisp and shiny as the natural paint.

Isn't Ventureshield the same as 3M now? I thought one company bought out the other. A local clear bra installer in my area uses this brand and he's done full hoods on many bimmers.
