Here's my tussle with a 335d. The driver of the 335d was certainly trying his best, but you can see that the added torque gives no advantage when the M3 is in the right gear; also, you can see the relative difference in stability through the corners - the 335d is wagging its tail, still a great performance car though.

I am considering replacements for our E89 Z4, the requirements from the other half being that I need to have back seats, but for me I want petrol, daily drivability (auto box for commute and reasonable comfort) and something that will be ok for few track days per year. Considering an E90 335i, E90 M3 or M135i My concern over M3 is fuel cost, but at least I can quantify that quite objectively, but the other side is E90 ride comfort is crap. However, my experience is with Run flats on a 330d, so curious as to how an M3 compares to a normal E90 on runflats? |

I agree with these comments. The M3 can be driven in relative comfort on a daily basis. I went from 18"to 19" wheels an to be honest not a noticeable difference really. As for fuel consumption well if you gotta ask you can't afford it !!! As they say! Driven lightly you can nearly be economical, put the foot down and it passes everything but a petrol station !!!!

It IS a performance car that's easy on the wallet . .. having said that , it's still not an M3.. The M3 is a benchmark |

With the extra money you'd save in fuelling the D , you could hire an M3 for the day every 6 months , you could kick the crap out of it and hand it back guilt free To get the D to sing you'll have to go down the DPF bypass route . Straight remap will get you 330 , add the extra 50 if you bypass the DPF. Not exactly legal in the UK anymore sadly If the 35d came with a LSD , then it'd be a different story ! |
